Kean Miller partner Linda Broocks organized the program which consisted of a presentation on recent regulatory developments involving financial services by Kean Miller partner Jessica Engler, and a presentation on achieving success in multi-generational wealth transfer by Deborah Stavis, CFP®of Stavis Wealth Transfer Solutions. SWIFS is a network of women attorneys working in the financial services space, whether directly working within financial institutions or acting as outside legal advisers.

Kean Miller energy and environmental litigation attorneys, Victor Gregoire, Louis Grossman, Michael Levatino, and Lily Pavy’s article, “Gale Force Winds: A National Push for Wind Energy in the Gulf Coast,” was published in the August issue of The Energy Dispatch, an Institute for Energy Law - IEL Young Energy Professionals publication. The article discusses how offshore wind energy could meet the ambitious task of reducing GHG emissions produced by the nation’s power sources and why Louisiana is poised to benefit. As previously reported, on April 23, 2024, by a vote of 3-2 along party lines, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) voted to approve a final rule effectively banning employers from entering into non-compete agreements with their workers, with few limited exceptions (the “Rule”). During the 2024 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature, the Louisiana Natural Resources Trust Authority was created to address a longstanding problem involving abandoned or orphan wells. This Trust Authority will allow the State of Louisiana to revamp its approach to orphan well management and finance, with goals of responsible development and cost savings across the industry.
