Transforming Futures with Clear Vision The Ver Bien Project is making a remarkable impact on students’ lives in Equatorial Guinea! This incredible school-based vision intervention, launched by Marathon Oil in 2017, ensures that children and youth receive essential vision services to support their academic success. This year, in collaboration with NGO ONCIGE, Nueva Vision Optica and Doctor Cruz clinics, the project achieved astounding results: • ~6,500 Vision Screenings • 720 Clinical Eye Examinations • ~660 Eyeglasses Distributed These efforts ensure that visual impairments don't stand in the way of educational achievement. Congratulations to the 33 graduates of our Business Acumen and Commercial Awareness Training Program (a recognized ITOL International Diploma Level), who were recognized during an event in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, yesterday. This intensive year-long program increases employees’ understanding of the inner-workings of the organization and internal and external trends and strengthens their overall performance. This was a significant achievement and we’re #MROProud of all the participants!

More than 200 Houston and Malabo employees came together last week during a battle of the brains quiz event to raise money for our Books for Bioko program in Equatorial Guinea. The highly anticipated event raised $17,000 to support nine high-performing schools in EG. Over the past 21 years, Books for Bioko has raised over $1.3 million, providing a quality education for 8,500 students on Bioko Island. It’s amazing to see the impact our employees have had on the lives of Equatoguinean youth. Our team had a blast volunteering as “junior counselors” at the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Camp Adventure, partnering with the awesome educators from the Children’s Museum of Houston! From creating Facebook profiles for “The Sun” to exploring the “Mystery of the Melting Ice,” our K-5th graders were on a learning spree. We dove into science experiments, crafted colorful illustrations and even discussed Archimedes’ principle. Spoiler alert: some of the kiddos already knew the answer! So grateful for this experience, teaching, learning and having fun together.
