On Women’s Equality Day, we honor the women’s suffrage movement that led to the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. While the passage of the 19th Amendment laid the foundation for greater opportunities for women, the fight to fully secure voting rights for women of color continued for another 45 years, until the 1965 Voting Rights Act was passed, prohibiting racial discrimination in voting. At MPC, we recognize and celebrate our women employees; they help shape our company culture and contribute to our business success with their ideas, perspectives, experiences and hard work. ICYMI: Teen's Dream Comes True with Help from Make-A-Wish Utah and Marathon Petroleum 🌟 Jesse, a teenager battling cancer, is seeing his dream of becoming a firefighter come to life, thanks to Make-A-Wish Utah and the support of Marathon Petroleum’s Salt Lake City refinery. In a heartwarming surprise, Jesse's driveway was filled with flashing lights and sirens as the refinery’s firefighters arrived to present him with a scholarship to fire school. They spent two hours with him, sharing stories and insights about the profession that Jesse aspires to join. Jesse’s inspiration for this career path comes from his late grandfather, a former New York City firefighter who also served as his guardian. La Nube, a new children’s museum in El Paso, Texas, is providing interactive learning experiences across four floors and more than 70,000 square-feet of space. 🌩 🌎 🐧 👨💻 🤖   The facility recently opened with hands-on exhibits that incorporate science, technology, engineering, art and math. Today, members of our HOPE Asian employee network are celebrating Raksha Bandhan. #RakshaBandhan, which means the “bond of protection,” is a Hindu tradition celebrated by tying a rakhi (bracelet) on someone’s wrist as a symbol of universal brotherhood and sisterhood, unmatched love, care and respect. In celebration of Raksha Bandhan, HOPE members are gifting rakhis to their colleagues as a token of gratitude for their collaboration and teamwork at MPC. #MarathonPetroleum

An initiative is moving forward in El Paso, Texas, that will give more people with disabilities direct workplace experience to better prepare them for future employment.     A representative of our El Paso refinery presented a $20,000 refinery grant to the city of El Paso, allowing implementation of the Ability Fellows Program in cooperation with the Children’s Disabilities Information Coalition, a local nonprofit.     The program, which continues from August through December, will provide young adults with disabilities the opportunity for hands-on involvement with city officials on various community projects.    #CDICFamilies #EmpoweringThisAbility #MPCgives #MarathonPetroleum
