MARS' Young Professionals Group is excited to announce the 2024 tour on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Thanks to the great teams at CN and Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad for hosting this great event. At the MARS Summer Meeting earlier this month, the Young Professionals Group had their inaugural Charity Challenge at the MARS Scholarship Golf Outing. The charity that they selected to work with this year is Camp One Step by Children's Oncology Services, Inc. These great efforts and generosity of our golfers resulted in a $3,800 donation to Camp One Step. We were so proud to support Camp One Step...they are a leader in providing empowering, supportive, educational & FUN experiences for children who have been diagnosed with cancer & their families. A few of their 10 free in-person camps are located in Lake Geneva so there is a lovely tie in with our Summer Meeting. The team at Camp One Step shared with us that they "recently wrapped up 2 sessions of Summer Camp. As always, there was a lot of singing, joking, and overall joy throughout camp. Activities included fishing, a giant slip and slide, and huge inflatables for the kids to jump in. There were water balloon fights, breaks to enjoy ice-cream in the snack shop, and of course, the All-Camp Dance. The youngest campers, ages 7-12 years old, spent hours getting "Glammed Up" for the dance and used washable gel to color their hair in blue, green, orange and red. There was also a lot of glitter in nail polish, hair/body spray, and tinsel to attach to clothing. They had an absolute blast!    Please accept our gratitude for the generous support from MARS. The news of the untimely passing of Pat Ottensmeyer over the weekend was deeply felt by the Executive Committee and members of MARS. Pat was a great champion of our industry, a mentor and friend to many of us. We join our colleagues from all around the rail shipping world in mourning this terrific man. Pat will be missed. We send our condolences to his family and friends.
