Congratulations to the Clarametyx Biosciences team, Lauren Bakaletz, PhD, and Steve Goodman, PhD on their recently published paper!
Please join us in congratulating Lauren Bakaletz, PhD, Steve Goodman , PhD, and team, as their recently published paper, “Noninflammatory 97-Amino Acid High Mobility Group Box 1 Derived Polypeptide Disrupts and Prevents Diverse Biofilms” highlights strategies targeting and destroying biofilm, utilizing the body’s anti-biofilm proteins. DNABII-directed approach rights were licensed to Nationwide Children's Hospital startup, Clarametyx Biosciences, where Dr. Bakaletz and Dr. Goodman are co-founders, shareholders, and members of the scientific advisory board. Click here for the EBioMedicine paper: https://bit.ly/3Z3R5CK The emphasis of the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is to develop a greater understanding of the molecular mechanisms by which microorganisms cause infectious diseases, as well as how the host responds to these diseases. Despite recent progress in the worldwide management of childhood infectious diseases, including the development and licensure of several new safe and effective pediatric vaccines, infectious disease remains the leading cause of death globally and is the third leading cause of mortality in The United States. There is thus a burgeoning need, on a national and international level, to develop methods to combat endemic diseases for which there are no effective treatments or vaccines. It is also imperative to take on the challenges presented by new and re-emerging infectious diseases caused by viruses, bacteria and eukaryotic pathogens. The Abigail Wexner Research Institute aggressively supports the discovery of new knowledge and its translation into novel therapeutics and diagnostic tests to advance pediatric research. Unprecedented investment and inspired leadership have paved the way for tremendous progress. The impact on children who previously had little hope has been truly remarkable. #GuidingIdeasToSolutions #InovateWithUs #BenchToBedside
