The mission of the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) is to ensure America's runaway, homeless and at-risk youth are safe and off the streets. NRS' services include: - 24/7 access to crisis services via our 1-800-RUNAWAY hotline, chat, forum, and email. All services are free and confidential. - A database of resources and referrals for youth, ages 12-21, to local agencies and services across the nation. - The Home Free program, in partnership with Greyhound Lines, Inc., which offers youth a free bus ticket home or to a safe alternate living arrangement. Through these services, and much more, we serve over 125,000 youth in need annually.

OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH: Youth HOPE Month is led by the National Runaway Safeline (NRS), with support from the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) and hundreds of partners, Youth Ambassadors, individuals, and companies from across the country. In November of 2023, Youth Ambassadors made waves in the media, spoke out at high schools, and spread the word on social media about the issues surrounding youth homelessness. This year, we’re dreaming even bigger with #YouthHOPEMonth24 – and we need young people to make it happen! Already, our partner community is quickly growing – now it’s time to rally our Youth Ambassadors for Youth HOPE Month. Please inform members of your Youth Advisory Board and/or other young people you know or work with. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gGECymxP

Our friends National Network for Youth have release a fact sheet to help you understand the HOUSING FOR HOMELESS STUDENTS Act! "The Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) increases the development of affordable housing by cutting developers’ tax liability. However, the 'student rule' excludes full-time college students, including veterans, from living in LIHTC-funded properties, negatively affecting those who currently are or have recently experienced homelessness. The Housing for Homeless Students Act (HHSA) provides an exception for these students to ensure all young people have access to both education and affordable housing to achieve their fullest potential and stop the cycle of homelessness." Recognized every November, Youth Homelessness, Outreach, Prevention, and Education (HOPE) Month, is a public awareness campaign designed to “shine a light” on the experiences of youth who have run away and those experiencing homelessness.* Hundreds of organizations and youth join together with the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) and the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) to raise awareness about youth homelessness, educate the public about the role they can play in preventing and ending youth homelessness, and increase visibility of the critical services offered to vulnerable youth and families nationwide. We invite you to be a part of Youth HOPE Month! Join the movement by registering today as a partner at https://lnkd.in/gDDNBfTD – and help amplify the voices of the 4.2 million young people who experience homelessness each year in the United States. As a Youth HOPE Month partner, you’ll receive support and guidance during partner calls, resources such as toolkits filled with tips, ideas, social media graphics, and more. We also provide templates for commitment cards, proclamation requests, public building lighting requests, and other materials – all aimed at ensuring your local efforts are successful. With nearly 75 organizations already on board as Youth HOPE Month partners for the November 2024 campaign, we’re certain this year’s effort is going to be fantastic! https://lnkd.in/gf-JSAam

A new episode of "Let's Talk" is now available! We are excited to welcome National Runaway Safeline’s Director of Training, Sebastian Ramos, to the podcast! In this episode, we have conversation reflecting on missed opportunities for teaching and practice mindfulness during our school years. Sebastian shares his thoughts on ways mindfulness can be implemented in an educational setting today, and how talking about self-regulation at a young age teaches young people how to set healthy mental health boundaries. We are thrilled to announce that National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM) has officially been rebranded as Youth Homelessness Outreach, Prevention, & Education Month, or Youth HOPE Month! https://lnkd.in/gVfwH_Y7 Since 2001, November has been recognized as National Runaway Prevention Month following a White House Conference on Exploited and Runaway Children. The National Runaway Safeline (NRS) has partnered with hundreds of national, state, and local organizations to promote this vital public awareness campaign. Our goal has always been to highlight the often invisible and overlooked experiences of youth who have run away or experienced homelessness. The landscape of youth homelessness and runaway issues has evolved significantly since NRPM’s inception. Our understanding of the needs and experiences of young people has deepened and broadened, leading to a more inclusive and comprehensive approach. Today, it is widely acknowledged that incorporating the perspectives of young people with lived experiences is critical in shaping effective support and interventions. In the coming weeks, we will open registration for individuals and organizations to become official partners of Youth HOPE Month. As a valued past partner of NRPM and/or NRS, you can register as a partner for free NOW! By registering, you gain access to dozens of free resources, including toolkits, outreach materials, and social media graphics. You'll join a network of the most dedicated youth-facing service providers, community leaders, and supporters in the RHY community. Unlike NRPM, which required annual registration, you will only need to complete registration once, and you can easily make any necessary updates directly with NRS’s communications team. You or your organization will remain life-long partners in Youth HOPE Month unless you request removal from our database.

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. We focus on the most vulnerable: children affected by trafficking. Everyone plays a role in saying no to child trafficking. We urge authorities, the public, private sector, and NGOs to join to #EndHumanTrafficking

Child trafficking infiltrates sports, destroying young athletes’ dreams. Traffickers promise professional careers, but instead deliver abuse and exploitation. We must raise awareness among families, communities, and sports organizations to protect young talent. #EndHumanTrafficking
