We’re proud to announce the start of production of Nth Cycle's state-of-the-art refining system in Fairfield, Ohio – the first commercial production of Nickel Cobalt MHP from scrap in the U.S.! Without critical metals, there can be no clean energy transition, and we know that domestic recycling and mining are not enough to solve the crisis we face in procuring metals. Materials from both sources may be rich in critical metals but they’re unusable unless refined. Without domestic refining capabilities, our end-of-life batteries, mined ore and scrap metal are sent overseas for processing. It takes several years and billions of dollars to build one traditional metal refinery in the U.S., and because of that, our dependence on overseas refining has only been growing, until today. This is the significance of what Nth Cycle has done. We haven’t built a traditional refinery or a new building. We’ve built a modular refining system, the Oyster, that can be installed at any partner location like recycling facilities or manufacturing plants in under 12 months, just as it’s been installed in Fairfield where we’re now producing Nickel Cobalt MHP.
