What’s that sound? Collaboration, partnership, hard work, and erm-a waterfall! Manhattan’s waterfall is back for the first time since 2018! We worked with Friends of Morningside Park & Columbia University to restore this famous falls with improved pumps and a specialized automated system to help clear pond algae and manage energy usage. Without great partners and our own plumbers, electricians, blacksmiths, masons, carpenters, painters, and supervisors, projects like these wouldn’t be possible. It takes a village and here in NYC, we’re lucky to have so many helping hands!

During and after a weather emergency, our forestry crews leap to action to clean up. This morning, we're cleaning up from the high winds caused by the remnants of Hurricane Debby. Thank you to our brave and quick-thinking Parks Enforcement Patrol officers for their heroic efforts this week. On Monday evening at Rockaway Beach, Sgt. Tareque Inan, Sgt. Joel Semanduy, CSA Roderick Smith, CSA Eric Hinestroza, and CSA Elijah Ammi assisted in an after-hours rescue, together pulling three New Yorkers from a rip current. Thank you to CSA Hinestroza for spotting the individuals, and CSA Ammi for entering the water to rescue them, and to the whole team for coordinating with EMS. We remind all New Yorkers to stay safe and follow the rules: only swim when and where lifeguards are on duty.

Here at Parks, we strive to make all of our spaces fun and accessible for New Yorkers of every ability level, like here at Dyckman Rest. This recently reconstructed playground in Highbridge Park features play structures, seating, and a spray shower, all now with full ADA universal accessibility. Come enjoy!
