This #NationalDogDay, we’d like to introduce Albie – a one-year-old golden retriever who’s has been visiting Riverside Methodist Hospital since the spring to bring smiles to our associates.   He is a certified therapy dog and joined the Alliance of Therapy Dogs last December.   Albie basks in the attention he gets from staff, and loves all the belly rubs. He's part of a growing group of therapy dogs at OhioHealth that supports associate well-being. 💙🐾

We’re proud to share a new leadership role within the organization, Chief of Musculoskeletal Services (MSK). Darrin Bright, MD, will oversee orthopedics surgery, nonsurgical orthopedics and sports medicine and primary care teams. “When you look at the MSK space within OhioHealth, we see several individual practices that came together over time gradually becoming larger and larger groups. We’ve really gotten to the point where we can no longer function independently and need to work together,” Dr. Bright said. “So I think there is a great opportunity here to really start functioning more as a cohesive group and make sure that we identify where our opportunities lie within the community and how we can better serve the needs of our community.” Read more about Dr. Bright and our MSK services: ohlth.co/3SWdApw.

OhioHealth Grant Medical Center has received its fifth consecutive Magnet recognition, a testament to our continued dedication to high-quality nursing practice! The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes healthcare organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. This credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice. Only 1% of hospitals in the United States have earned this designation five times or more. “Grant’s nurses are empowered to advance nursing excellence and provide outstanding, evidence-based care to all patients,” said Le-Ann Harris DNP, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, Grant’s Chief Nursing Officer. “Excellence is at the core of our Grant culture, and this external acknowledgment of our dedication to patient care is an esteemed honor. This recognition may have been led by nursing, but all Grant associates helped make this happen. Magnet recognition is a point of pride for all of us.” ohlth.co/4fRY7jV I #OhioHealthLeads

OhioHealth has successfully completed its first-ever bone marrow harvesting – a landmark moment for our Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy (BMT) program. Basem M. William, MD, MRCP(UK), FACP, performed the procedure to collect marrow from a donor to support stem cell recovery in the recipient. The BMT team treats blood cancers and other disorders using the most advanced treatments available. And with this new milestone, we are now the second healthcare system in central Ohio to provide this service. ohlth.co/3SQ8Xxb I #OhioHealthCancerCare

OhioHealth’s North Market Mobile Mammography Unit is celebrating one year of providing breast cancer screenings to women in the northern Ohio region. This donor-funded project has reached nearly 1,000 women across eight counties, many of whom live in rural areas with limited access to healthcare. In fact, nearly 20% of these patients received their first-ever mammogram on this unit. The importance of a work bestie can’t be overlooked. Having a meaningful connection at work is a strong predictor of engagement, performance, and happiness among employees. From survey results, OhioHealth ranks in the 79th percentile when asked, “Do you have a best friend at work?” To celebrate and further promote friendship within the organization, we created these symbolic charms for associates to gift to one another. After swapping the charms, associates are now sporting them on their shoes and bracelets! Read more about the research behind trusted relationships in the workplace: ohlth.co/4ceNBjJ. #BelieveInWe

OhioHealth is pioneering heart care with the first-of-its-kind AGENT™ Drug-Coated Balloon catheter. This innovative technology opens the blood vessel to treat in-stent restenosis, a condition in which a stented artery has re-narrowed due to plaque or scar tissue. “It is a game-changer for this particular set of patients,” said Yohannes A. Bayissa, MD, Interventional Cardiologist. “Patients who’ve had stents before and are re-narrowing again and again, this is one revolutionary way of treating the problem.” Six of our hospitals are among the first in the country to offer this groundbreaking outpatient procedure! ohlth.co/4ftbPKe I #OhioHealthLeads
