MISSION: Their lives are our mission. Operation Healing Forces’ mission is to serve the needs of America’s wounded, ill, injured, and fallen Special Operations Forces service members, veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors through a suite of programs that promote long-term mental, physical, emotional, and fiscal well-being. VISION: Creating Bonds That Cure Our vision is that all members of the Special Operations Forces community are able to enhance their resilience, empower their rehabilitation, embrace their reintegration, and lead fulfilling and productive lives. Through therapeutic retreats, our purpose is to enable these war-torn men and women to break through the silence to openly discuss their battlefield and personal hardships. A safe, protected environment allows our participants to let their guard down and share. Realizing they are not alone, participants discover it is appropriate — and not a stigma — to seek help, support, and guidance when needed from fellow SOF professionals and their families. The retreat environment combined with peer-to-peer counseling and recreational therapies enable sincere bonding between couples, with other spouses going through similar hardships, and among fellow SOF service members. Through our Special Operations Additional Resource (SOAR) program, SOF and their families can receive case by case assistance with our beneficial services. These services include long range financial planning, transitioning or retired SOF and family employment services, caregiver retreats, alumni support, legal assistance and resources, and ambassador dinners. OHF Immediate Needs program provides direct crisis support to Special Operations personnel and their families. The program covers costs that are not covered by government means including travel and expenses related to medical emergencies, medical and adaptive equipment, funeral and memorials costs, and other as needed crisis support.

At the recent Army Aviation Association of America Summit, Operation Healing Forces CEO, Kerry Irvin, led a powerful spouse professional development session, offering invaluable insights and practical strategies based on research. "Irvin covered separate components like Resilience, a Growth Mindset, Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence that, when utilized together, have proven to enhance the well-being of individuals to promote post-challenge growth." Operation Healing Forces is committed to bolstering the #resilience of the #SOF community, ensuring our nation's heroes and their families have the tools to not only survive but #thrive. Today is International Dog Day! 🦴 Did you know the Belgian Malinois is the predominant breed of dog utilized by all four branches of the military? They are considered ideal due to their trainability, high-energy, loyalty, speed, agility, and fierceness when needed. These four-legged warriors are used for sniffing out bombs, scouting, patrol work, and can be used in search and rescue parachute and rappel operations. Rediscovering "Real Again" During his 20-year military career, retired Army Special Forces Chief Warrant Officer Chris Linnel served on multiple combat and operational deployments, including four combat deployments to Afghanistan and six to the U.S. Southern Command Area of Responsibilities. His commitment to duty often kept him away from his family, causing him to miss significant milestones and impacting the relationships with his wife, Sophia, and their three children. When the opportunity arose to attend an Operation Healing Forces therapeutic couples retreat, Chris and Sophia recognized the potential benefit of taking a break from their everyday routine to reconnect. "We needed to get away from the daily rigor to be able to enjoy ourselves and rekindle that relationship," Sophia reflected. Under Chris Stowe's leadership, the retreat in Aspen perfectly balanced confidence-boosting adrenaline activities with ample downtime for reconnection and respite. “One of the beauties was that we didn’t have to think, we just participated,” said Sophia. Colorado’s snow-covered mountains offered a refreshing contrast to their sunny home in Crestview, Florida, and they appreciated the opportunity to enhance their skiing skills side by side. “It helped to remind us that we do work really well together,” Sophia said as she described how they helped each other up after falling and continuously encouraged one another. The Linnels also cherished spending time with the other SOF couples who have “been there and done that.” Chris noted, “We all had the understanding that we’ve all been through something in the past, so opening up to each other wasn’t a problem.” Free from the distractions of home responsibilities, their children’s needs and schedules, or work demands, Chris and Sophia could also engage in more personal conversations. Conversations that are critical to continue to have in a healthy, strong marriage. “OHF provided the opportunity for me to recognize my wife again, and ignite that spark that was there at the beginning of our relationship. It made what we had forgotten, real again,” explains Chris. #OHF #CreatingBondsThatCure #marriageretreat #SpecialOperationsForces #milfamily #realagain
