David brings almost 2 decades of finance leadership in educational institutions and nonprofits. With his deep skills in finance and accounting, demonstrated ability to be a financial steward for multiple stakeholders, and passion for our mission, he will contribute substantially to OppCo and our member CDCs. Through Opportunity Communities, community development non-profits leverage their combined resources to create administrative support and programmatic capacity in areas that benefit from scale and expertise. Control and governance remains local, guiding strategic direction, local programs, budget and assets. Without sacrificing local control, OppCo achieves a more sustainable, efficient and robust structure for community development activities to support stronger families, greater economic equality, and thriving communities that benefit all people. OppCo was launched in April 2018 by two experienced Greater Boston non-profits--Nuestra Comunidad and The Neighborhood Developers. In 2022, the North Shore CDC joined as our third member. Across the three organizations is a housing portfolio of 1,863 apartments, providing a stable home to over 3,780 low- and moderate-income individuals. Over time, as OppCo expands its membership, it expects to manage tenant services and asset management of 10,000 affordable homes and to support its members to diversify and accelerate their affordable housing production.

🌟 What a night! 🌟 Tonight, I witnessed my team North Shore Community Development Coalition thrive at our Small Business Night Market, providing a vital creative economic development opportunity for the community and supporting BIPOC businesses in growing and thriving. I also attended The Neighborhood Developers Raise the Roof event in Chelsea, focused on the essential growth and development of affordable housing while celebrating champions in the community. Congratulations to Rafael Mares and his team for organizing such an impactful evening! And amidst all this, I made it home just in time to tuck my 4-year-old in for the night. Check it out! Our member North Shore Community Development Coalition just celebrated the inauguration of its newest creative placemaking project “Casa de Abuela” at Punto Urban Art Museum (PUAM). Casa de Abuela is an art installation created to connect with the immigrant residents of the Point neighborhood in Salem in a deep and unconventional way. The project tells the stories of Abuelas (grandmothers) via a traditional wooden house commonly found in the countryside of the Dominican Republic (DR). https://lnkd.in/ejiDS-v5
