The Iowa Economic Development Authority has announced $37 million in Workforce Housing Tax Credit awards across Iowa, including 3 projects in Polk County, 3 in Warren County, and 1 in Dallas County. https://lnkd.in/gbi77ft5

The Iowa Finance Authority and Iowa Economic Development Authority have awarded City of Des Moines and City of West Des Moines the prestigious Thriving Communities designiation, boosting both cities' efforts to add needed housing supply. https://lnkd.in/gVWdHpRu

And with that, the final page of this chapter has been turned. This summer, I had a truly memorable experience working at the Polk County Housing Trust Fund. As I look back through the pages and reminisce, here are a few highlights: I was appointed as a Strategic Creative Development Intern, focusing on cinematography and content creation related duties under the guidance of Julian D. Neely, M.S. and Matt Hauge, MPA •To celebrate their upcoming 30th anniversary, I had the privilege of planning, directing, and editing a documentary that tells their story. It's inspiring to see an organization thriving for 30 years, and I’m grateful to have contributed to their celebration. I’m excited for you all to see the final product soon! •To further develop my project management skills, I oversaw the brochure design project for the Trust Fund's new campaign. •In event planning, I coordinated the logistics for a Supportive Housing Webinar hosted by the Trust Fund, creating an opportunity for the community to learn about local supportive housing programs and why they are essential. •I assisted behind the scenes of 'Lighting the Way to Homeownership Opportunity,' a video series produced by PCHTF, serving as a resource for aspiring homeowners. This internship has been incredibly enriching, allowing me to deepen my understanding of housing and the areas that could be strengthened. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Julian D. Neely, M.S. for bringing me onto the team and being a mentor. I’m also thrilled to continue working part-time as I complete my sophomore year at Iowa State. A huge thank you to everyone at the Trust Fund. Meeting and working with you all has been the most rewarding part of this experience!

Accessory Dwelling units are a promising way to add housing into existing neighborhoods that matches well with existing housing. Today we were happy to give an overview presentation about ADUs to the City of Urbandale joined by our colleagues at AARP Iowa and Capital Crossroads (CXR).
