Our team is dedicated to making a difference—not just in our communities, but for each other as well. ❤️ This past Wednesday, our marketing team wore pink in a show of solidarity for our colleague, Jordan Aschwege, and his family. 🎗️ #MakeADifference #WeArePerficient #BreastCancerAwareness
I don't normally make a lot of posts here on LinkedIn, but I can't let this moment go by without saying something. If you follow me on other platforms, you may know that my wife was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer a few months ago and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments. During that time, I've been wearing pink on Wednesdays and making posts about it on social media to bring light to a potentially touchy subject in a way that my kids could (and have!) joined in. I've had friends and family start joining in, and it's just a fun way to bring awareness to breast cancer and all those affected by it. Many of these Wednesdays have been when I go into the office at Perficient, so it's not a surprise anymore when I show up in an admittedly loud polo. What -was- a surprise, however, was when I walked into the conference room for a "design critique" meeting and saw so many of my coworkers also wearing pink. Not just local colleagues - team members from all corners of the globe had joined in. North America, Latin America, and even India were participating in pink as they could. I couldn't help but grin, but I was as close to speechless as I've been in a long time. All I could muster was "thank you" several times. Jessica and I have said from the very beginning of this chapter of our lives that we have the best village of support, but I never once imagined that our village would span the world like it has now. And to bring you up to speed on Jessica's treatment - she's nothing short of a badass. She does her chemo on Friday and is back to work on Monday, and were it not for a spell with Covid, she wouldn't have missed any extra time from work because of it. I am truly in awe of her strength. Best news of all, the chemo is working and her mass is measuring considerably smaller. She still has a ways to go, but she is doing remarkably well. I'm so proud to call myself a part of this team that goes so far above and beyond to support one another. Thank you, all! On Wednesdays, we wear pink!
