This diverse seven-member board, representing multiple localities and professional backgrounds, will provide key input on the medical needs of the region and help the hospital develop services that meet those needs.

Stephanie interviewed Dr. King, OB/GYN and Service Line Chief for Obstetrics at Riverside, and Julianne R., Riverside Medical Group Practice Director, to discuss how the new clinic is breaking barriers to care for women on the Peninsula by offering specialized support for high-risk pregnancies. Riverside Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists provides comprehensive services, including preconception counseling, genetic counseling, advanced diagnostic ultrasounds with high-resolution imaging to monitor fetal development and detect anomalies. The clinic also offers prenatal care, management of maternal health conditions, and supportive services tailored to the unique needs of high-risk pregnancies. Today, September 9, is the most common birthday of the year and our Labor and Delivery unit at Riverside Regional Medical Center has been bustling with activity! We’re proud to have a robust residency program, including our OB/GYN Residency, which helps train the next generation of physicians. On September 1, 2024, Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital celebrated 15 years as part of Riverside Health. In 2009, after 81 years as an independent hospital, Shore Memorial joined Riverside to continue expanding local access to high-quality health care. The first Eastern Shore hospital opened on August 16, 1928 in Nassawadox as the Northampton Accomack Memorial Hospital. In 1971, the second hospital opened down the block, and the 1928 building was demolished. In February 2017, after 46 years in the 1971 hospital, services were moved from Nassawadox to the current location in Onancock.
