In San Marcos, we foster a supportive environment for youth through our education system and programs. San Marcos Unified School District ✏️ continues to provide mental health support to our students at all levels through the Let’s Face It. Together. program. We want our students to know that they can reach out to any trusted adult for help. Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos is another great program for our youth that offers excellent guidance on their development and future. Their staff help inspire our young people to become the next leaders and reach their full potential. ✨ Learn more about our efforts to engage youth at https://lnkd.in/eb4iNJHJ. #SanMarcos #YouthPrograms #LetsFaceItTogether #BoysAndGirlsClub

Thank you to Supervisor Desmond for honoring San Marcos High School #CTE Building & Construction teacher, Mr. Chris Geldert! Mr. Geldert’s tireless dedication to teaching students valuable construction and woodworking skills led to the completion of a student-constructed tiny home for Wounded Warriors! 👏 #FutureReady #WeAreSMUSD #SanMarcos #northcounty #weloveourteachers

In honor of May 15th National Peace Officers Memorial Day and this week as National Police Week, we want to spotlight our CTE Criminal Justice Program at #SMUSD who mark this time with a special assignment. Every year in May the students pick a state and then research 3 different officers who have died in the line of duty. The students will then handwrite a letter to the leader of the agency where the fallen officer served. Students are allowed to pick any officer - some have died recently and some have died over 100 years ago. They mail the letter to the agency and many times receive correspondence back from the various departments. On several occasions, family members of the fallen officers have personally come to California just to take the student out to lunch or just to meet them in person. This year Honolulu Police Chief Arthur “Joe” Logan and the Honolulu Police Department personnel, were so touched, they recorded a special Mahalo message to the students of the Criminal Justice Program, watch it here https://lnkd.in/ddGTmUYw Thank you so much Chief Logan & team for your video of thanks! #nationalpeaceofficermemorialday #NationalPoliceWeek2024 #CTE #futureready
