We're excited to share that SpruceID is participating in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) Accelerate Adoption of Digital Identities on Mobile Devices Consortium. This initiative will help define and facilitate a reference architecture for digital credentials that protect privacy, are implemented securely, enable equity, and are widely adoptable and easy to use. The NCCoE’s Mobile Driver’s License (mDL) project team just released the list of CRADA collaborators for its first project use case! Collaborators will work with the NCCoE to accelerate the adoption of digital identity standards and best practices by producing reference architectures, representative workflows, and implementation guides to address real-world #cybersecurity, #privacy, and usability challenges faced by adoption of mDL in the financial sector. We're thrilled to share that SpruceID CEO, Wayne Chang, alongside a diverse group of researchers from OpenAI, Harvard University, Microsoft, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Decentralized Identity Foundation, and other leading organizations, just released a groundbreaking proposal aimed at tackling online disinformation and fraud. This new paper proposes the Personhood Credential (PHC) – a digital tool designed to empower internet users by proving their authenticity online, all while maintaining strong privacy protections. This credential, much like our mobile driver's licenses in California and beyond, ensures that only the minimum necessary information is shared: confirming that the user is a human, not a bot or AI agent. The PHC does not disclose any identifying details and is crafted to avoid cookie-like traceability. This credential is poised to be a game-changer for those looking to establish credibility online while safeguarding their privacy and for service providers aiming to reduce fraud. Big upcoming launch news! We’re very excited and proud to share that Californians will soon be able to use their mobile driver’s license in the Apple/Google Wallet, in addition to the CA DMV Wallet application. SpruceID is proud to power the platform to enable this wallet optionality for the CA DMV, who has consistently been a leader in user-forward innovations throughout the mobile driver’s license pilot. California will be the first State to afford users optionality in which wallet they prefer to use for their ISO mDL between OEM wallets and state-operated app. https://lnkd.in/gH2m6Vnw
