Über uns

The St. Louis Area Foodbank is the bi-state region’s largest non-profit 501(c)(3) food distribution center dedicated to feeding those in need. Through our network of more than 500 partner agencies, we distributed over 42 million pounds of food in 2016. Thanks to the generous support from our donors and volunteers, we provide food assistance to more than 57,000 individuals each week in 26 counties in Eastern Missouri and Southwestern Illinois. The St. Louis Area Foodbank is a proud member of both the United Way and Feeding America – a nationwide network of over 200 food banks.

Every day, brave military personnel defend our freedom, yet many face hunger. In fact, 1 in 4 active-duty service members (or 24% of active-duty service members) were food insecure in 2020. Service members often experience unique challenges making it difficult to access the food they need to thrive, from limited income to high cost-of-living and other financial commitments. Additionally, service members often are required to move from base to base, making it difficult for spouses to maintain consistent work. This leaves the family to rely on the single income of the service member. While many military members and their families face hunger, very few qualify for federal food assistance programs. The St. Louis Area Foodbank is committed to making it easier for military families to get access to the food they need. We are investing in collaborative partnerships with military-focused nonprofits and organizations to advocate for federal policy support. We are also creating food distribution events focused on assisting active-duty military personnel and veterans. Learn more about how you can help at https://lnkd.in/gmceMAji. Feeding America RTX

1 in 4 active-duty service members face food insecurity, and most do not qualify for food assistance programs. That’s why the St. Louis Area Foodbank is working to bridge the gap between those who have served and access to food. We’ve partnered with Feeding America & RTX to plan food distribution events this fall for our active-duty military members and veterans. With your help, the St. Louis Area Foodbank can provide much needed support to make a difference in the lives of active-duty and retired American servicemen and servicewomen and their families.
