  • When asked what their favorite time of day is, many scholars often say recess!   Dedicated time to play is essential to the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of children. Through play, scholars are also able to enjoy the outdoors, build friendships, and use their imaginations – that’s why we have built-in mandatory recess blocks in our daily school schedules and always will.

I am thrilled to share the incredible experience I had during my 13-week internship as a Data Engineer at Success Academy Charter Schools! This opportunity allowed me to apply my academic knowledge in a real-world setting and gain invaluable insights into the field of data engineering. It's hard to believe that just 13 weeks ago, I couldn't tell you what SQL was, let alone a data warehouse or an ETL tool. Collaborating with a team of talented engineers, I learned the importance of adaptability, effective communication, and continuous learning. This experience, in addition to being a highlight of my summer, has solidified my aspiration to pursue a career in software engineering and has prepared me to face the dynamic challenges of the tech industry. Huge thanks to Ali Jarvandi, PhD, Saroj Adhikari, Michael Anatole, Kenny Mai, Carlos Alvarez, Farah Wilson, Isaac C., and so many others, whom I would gladly list one by one but would not be able to fit in this post, for making this an amazing learning experience for me. I am grateful to my mentors and colleagues at Success Academy for their guidance and support. This journey has been instrumental in shaping my professional growth, and I am excited about the path ahead! SIDE NOTE: A new floor was added to the network office this summer and it features a Carnegie Mellon University conference room! The room's number is also the same as my birthday(4.28), which i'm now convinced cannot be a coincidence... is someone pranking me right now? #internship #dataengineering #softwareengineering #datatechnology #learning #careerdevelopment

  • Did you know that scholars involved in clubs and teams earn, on average, ten percent higher of a GPA than their non-participating peers? Our scholar-led clubs aim to unite students with common interests and create lively spaces for academic, cultural, and creative exploration. We invite all scholars to engage with our school community, as it helps them develop new friendships, improve communication and time management skills, and embrace leadership opportunities. Plus, if a club catering to a particular passion doesn’t exist, scholars can create their own and we’ll support them to make it happen.

Around the world, people look at America and our gun violence problem and cannot understand how a country like ours simply allows this to happen over and over again. The beginning of the school year should be full of excitement and joy — but for the Apalachee High School community — it’s now anything but. They are now dealing with the unimaginable loss of two students and two teachers and others wounded. In the midst of an election year, regardless of who you support, we must all support ending the senseless epidemic of gun violence — and achieve safety in our schools.  All of us at Success Academy Charter Schools mourn the loss of these innocents, and our hearts go out to their families and school community.

  • Recently, we conducted an extensive training session for over 500 educators, dedicating time to ensure preparedness for the current school year. Our training involves a range of topics, including effective classroom management strategies, an in-depth exploration of our world class curriculum, and guidance to foster strong partnerships with parents. With this comprehensive preparation, our teachers are equipped to inspire and educate the minds of the future.

  • 10 years ago, we opened our doors to our first high school, Success Academy of the Liberal Arts Manhattan. Now, a decade later, we have three incredible high schools full of competitive arts and athletics programs, dual-enrollment opportunities with some of NYC’s most notable institutions, and 100% of our scholars accepted to 4 year colleges (a stat that has been maintained since the very first class)! This year, we will have two graduating senior classes - our Harlem High School will celebrate its inaugural graduating class - marking another incredible milestone for our high schools. We are so excited to see our three high schools support the paths of the next generation!
