Our Sunshine Day of Play event, an awesome idea sparked by our special education teacher Megan O’Sullivan and her 15-year-old daughter while they were visiting a bunch of garage sales one weekend day, was held on June 7. The children were so excited about this wonderful Day of Play, which featured more than 130 toys that were made accessible using a switch so that every child was able to experience the joy of this inclusive, stimulating, and empowering playtime. We had SNOW much fun at the Inaugural Sunshine Snow Ball! The children had fun preparing for the event by making decorations, planning activities, and making a musical playlist. The morning of The Snow Ball the girls went to the Sunshine Sparkle and Shine Spa to get their hair, nails and makeup done by the Sunshine staff. The afternoon consisted of much with fun; dancing, creating, and celebrating all things snow! The Sunshine staff really enjoyed how beautiful and handsome all the children looked, and the best part was seeing all the happy smiles on our children’s faces. Our remarkable partnership of Therapeutic Activities, YARP and BOCES worked together to create a magnificent winter wonderland atmosphere.
