  • Meet Lulu! This sweet pup was found abandoned in a Texas park two years ago. She is now living her best life with her mom, Connie, in NYC. Connie shares: “After seeing her looking crestfallen on the Susie Senior Dogs Facebook page, I adopted Lulu, and she quickly settled into life in Manhattan. It’s as if she’s been waiting her whole life to be a New Yorker—her biggest pet peeve is slow walkers! Lulu loves the city’s hustle and bustle, especially "sniff-ari" walks for enrichment — so many interesting smells! With her zest and energy, she seems much younger than her age, which is estimated to be about 14. On our walks, people stop us all the time to ask what kind of dog she is. A DNA test revealed she’s a mix of Pomeranian, American Eskimo, and Maltese. It’s hard to imagine that Lulu was once shut down before getting adopted. The happy-go-lucky, outgoing, and loving dog I know today serves as a poignant reminder that any dog—no matter their age—can blossom when they find their forever home!” You can follow Lulu's adventures on Instagram @lululovesthecity. 💌 Get the best pet health information delivered to your inbox and share your animal companion's story with us by signing up for our Pet Health Newsletter! https://lnkd.in/ewzB5d4

  • As we gear up for the back-to-school season, it’s important to consider the safety and well-being of our pets. Here are some ways to help ease the transition: 🕗 Gradual Shift: Adjust your pet’s routine a week or two before school starts. 🐕 Exercise is Key: Ensure your pet stays active with regular walks and playtime. 👍 Positive Associations: Create positive vibes around your departure. Give treats or engage in fun activities just before you head out the door. 🧠 Mental Stimulation: Interactive toys and puzzle feeders can prevent boredom when pets are home alone. 🛏️ Safe Space: Set up a comfy safe spot for your pet to retreat to when they need downtime or when the family is out. 🎒 Put Away Backpacks and Lunchboxes: They often contain items that are dangerous for pets such as gum with xylitol, grapes, raisins, medications, and arts and crafts supplies. For more ways to help your pet adjust, check out this Pet Health Library article! https://lnkd.in/e6PSXFtX

    • Infographic titled 'Back-to-School Safety for Pets' with four sections providing tips to ensure pets' safety during school season.
