We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Nanette Wenger, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine, as our keynote speaker for the Women's Cardiovascular Symposium on October 11. Dr. Wenger will present on 'How Far We’ve Come in Women’s Heart Disease.' In a legendary career that spans over 50 years, Dr. Wenger’s pioneering clinical and research efforts have made her one of the most respected experts on women’s heart disease, changing a major paradigm in cardiology: the assumption that heart disease affects only men. Dr. Wenger has earned dozens of awards in her celebrated career, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology; a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Heart Federation; and the Gold Heart Award, the highest award of the American Heart Association. The Women's Cardiovascular Symposium is intended for cardiologists, internal medicine physicians, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals who are involved in the management of cardiovascular disease in women. 🚨 Lifesaver Award Alert 🚨 Witness the power of teamwork in action: A patient recently arrived at our Liberty Emergency Department (ED) with serious symptoms of an infection. Thanks to our incredible ED triage team, quick actions, and clear communication, the patient received immediate care. They even went above and beyond by assisting the patient's family member with transportation to our Mt. Auburn campus's Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Once in the ICU, the patient faced some challenging nights, but our dedicated night and daytime nurses were calm and reassuring, walking the family through every step of the process to ease their concerns. The smooth transition of care from one team member to the next made all the difference, and the inclusion of the family in discussions about care was deeply appreciated. From our Liberty ED to our ICU team, nurses, MICU team, EVS staff, case managers, technicians, and physicians across the network, it truly takes a village, even those who are not pictured. We're incredibly proud of how our team stepped up during these critical hours and days. Help us congratulate our amazing team members for their exceptional work!
