CPC was proud to be at the ribbon cutting for the Eckhardts building in East Buffalo! The building sat unused for 18 years before Cedarland Development Group stepped up to renovate and convert the 50,000-square-foot structure into a mixed-use development. CPC provided a $7.8 million construction loan, as well as a $3.2 million State Of New York Mortgage Agency (SONYMA)-insured permanent loan financed through our partnership with the New York State Common Retirement Fund. Today, the revitalized building boasts 28 #affordablehousing units and a free Head Start #childeducation program, bringing new life to the former retail store. We’re honored to be a part of this great project—one that Governor Hochul recognized as a #transformational project in Buffalo’s Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood as part of a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative award. CPC celebrates Women’s Equality Day! Previously known as Suffrage Day, #WomensEqualityDay commemorates the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. This milestone was the result of decades of activism and advocacy. However, the right to vote did not become a reality for most BIPOC women until after the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which outlawed discriminatory voting practices. While fair elections and equitable access to voting persist as issues today, Women’s Equality Day is a time to honor the activism and advocacy of the women’s rights movement and recognize the work still ahead to achieve gender equality in the U.S. and globally. #WomensEqualityDay2024

A CPC #ACCESSIncubator graduate, Sierra grew up in the historically redlined Sheridan Hollow neighborhood of #Albany and always knew that she wanted to make a difference in her own community. With the help of a construction loan from CPC, Sierra has now completed a gut rehabilitation of two #affordable apartments at 269 Sheridan Avenue—and has already welcomed the new residents to their new homes! And Sierra is just getting started; she owns other properties in the area that she aims to revitalize as well. Congratulations, Sierra! We can’t wait to see what you do next. Reflecting on 50 years of progress, CPC proudly celebrates Nehemiah Spring Creek, a multiphase initiative from the City of New York and East Brooklyn Congregations (EBC). From its abundance of parks to the Spring Creek Educational Center to the expanded Gateway Shopping Center, we're thrilled to witness the ongoing #revitalization of this vibrant community. Almost 20 years in the making, Phase One of Nehemiah Spring Creek Homes finally came to fruition in June 2009. In partnership with the City of New York and EBC, CPC was honored to provide the financing for the wonderful new community within the scenic Gateway Parks district. 184 units of affordable housing, including 69 single-family homes, 29 two-family homes, and 19 three-family homes, were created as part of Phase One of the projects. This influx of safe and affordable living spaces for the residents of #EastBrooklyn has stabilized the community, and as further development continues 1,200 new #affordable #rental units are expected. It’s been a privilege to see this project deliver on its promise to transform 45 acres of former wetlands and a landfill into a modern and model suburban, mixed-income, smart-growth community.
