The United States Congress' award program for youth.
Über uns
The Congressional Award Foundation is the United States Congress' award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all youth ages 13 1/2 - 24. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Certificates and Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas; Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. Each June, youth from across the nation are honored in the US Capitol for earning Congress' highest award for youth - The Congressional Award Gold Medal. Dozens of Members of Congress join the celebration to present Medals to their constituents. Throughout the year, additional events are held in Washington, D.C. where Members of Congress participate to raise awareness and funding from the private sector. The four signature events are the Chiefs of Staff Charity Poker Tournament, Gold Medal Ceremony, Golf Classic, and Youth & Technology Dinner. State Dinners & Receptions also occur on a rotating basis to help generate support for outreach efforts within those states.

Hundreds of Congressional Award Gold Medalists have framed pictures with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on their mantels at home. That's because the Congresswoman would stay for hours at every Gold Medal Ceremony to ensure that each participant had a photo with a member of Congress, even if their own member didn't attend. So whether or not you are from Houston, you may have fond memories of shaking her hand and receiving your award from this incredible person. If you stayed to hear her speak, you'd be reminded that it is "what you do for others" that counts most. And at any age, you can make a difference. This week, the life of Congresswoman Jackson Lee will be celebrated in Houston and across the nation. At The Congressional Award we will remember her as a dedicated board member, colleague, advocate and great friend. She will be missed tremendously. As she often spoke to us about strength of character, she truly led the way. And as she always closed her remarks, God Bless all of you, and God Bless the United States of America.

I’m excited to share that I have officially received my Congressional Award Gold Medal after 5 years of hard work! This summer, I was invited to the The Congressional Award Gold Medal Summit 2024 in Washington, DC. Throughout the summit, I had great networking opportunities with influential government, business, and civic leaders. I also was able to attend leadership and STEM related panels where I received my STEM Excellence Star Award. I finished the summit with a scavenger hunt of National Mall and a baseball game between the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals. I am thankful for having the opportunity to have met with Congress and Senate members. I appreciate Senator Marsha Blackburn and Congressman David Kustoff for taking time out of their busy schedules to meet with me. Additional thanks to Congressman David Kustoff’s office team for the amazing Capitol tour. Special thanks to Yasemin Keles and Cansu Inan, M.Ed. for being my advisors. Most importantly, thank you to my parents Fadime Dibi and Murat Dibi who have supported me and guided me throughout the process. I could not have done this without their support. #CongressionalAward #GoldMedal #GoldSummit2024 #CommunityService #DC

The Congressional Award Gold Medal Summit celebrated 724 young people from across the country - our largest class of Gold Medalists to date. Over 200 congressional meetings took place on Capitol Hill to present each young person with the Gold Medal - the highest honor bestowed upon a youth civilian through the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives under Public Law 96-114. It was an inspiring day of conversations with members of Congress, personal testaments, photos and celebrations with families and friends. Congratulations to all of the 2024 Congressional Award Gold Medalists, and a huge thank you to the supporters, advocates, volunteers and staff who helped to make this all possible - especially our Congressional Award team.
