The General is proud to highlight Melinda Sanchez, our senior licensing manager, who has made an incredible impact as a Community Ambassador with Nashville Launch Pad. 🌈 Nashville Launch Pad is a nonprofit organization providing safe, street-free sleeping shelters for unhoused young adults, particularly those who are LGBTQ+. They also feature an independent living facility and launched a mobile housing navigation center last year. In her role through the American Family Insurance Dreams Foundation, Melinda has operationalized processes, secured corporate sponsorships, and helped raise over $68,000 for the upcoming shelter season. “They are such an inclusive community,” Melinda says. “Their doors are open. That's their message.” Melinda was selected last year to take part in this program with the American Family Insurance Dreams Foundation which allows select employees to work for six months at a community partner. “Their doors are open to everyone. It doesn't matter a person's color, race, beliefs, gender, or sexual orientation—they want to help anybody and everybody.” As Melinda’s time as a Community Ambassador comes to an end, she will continue her involvement by joining the board of Nashville Launch Pad. “The most important thing I think a person can learn through this is it's not about you, it's about somebody else. As this basketball season comes to a close, we’re reflecting on another successful year collaborating as the Official Auto Insurance Partner of the NBA G League. This year, we hosted youth organizations for special VIP game experiences across the country. Each event included high-five tunnels with the players, pizza parties, and G League basketball. Highlight of the week, thus far, was being able to volunteer at the Atlanta Community Food Bank with coworkers from The General® and American Family Insurance. We helped pack over 13,000 lbs of food that will help feed families in the Atlanta area. Together, we continue to show up in our local communities to make a difference! The foundation of who we are and what we believe in as an organization, and as as individuals, is making a positive impact in the life of others.
