Monday September 30, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Hendersonville Public Library Community Room The Jason Foundation’s Youth Suicide Prevention presentation is an introduction to the national health issue of youth suicide and provides information about warning signs, risk factors, and other important information. The Jason Foundation was honored to present to the 2024 Tennessee School Based Behavioral Liaisons Summit on August 8, 2024 in Hendersonville, TN. This group has emerged from a dream, to first a group of about 30 Liaisons, and today are over 385 Liaisons helping provide and coordinate mental health services and resources in our schools all across Tennessee! Tennessee is fortunate to have these passionate folks!! Thanks to Gov. Bill Lee, TN State Legislature, and Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for making this all possible.

On 8/18/24 Morgan Marks with JFI did a 15-minute presentation to the Gallatin Cotillion. The presentation took place at Union Elementary School in Gallatin with over 100 attendees. After the presentation, the students assembled golfer goody bags for our upcoming fundraiser.

Hendersonville native and Gatorade Tennessee Soccer Player of the Year, Katie Shea Collins, awarded The Jason Foundation with a $1,000 grant to help us in our mission for awareness and prevention of youth suicide. The donation was made in honor of Chase Edwards a fellow student and athlete. Thank you, Katie Shea! This generous grant will allow us to continue providing our possibly live-saving programs at no cost.

Dear Friend, Jason was my youngest son. He was an average 16-year old. He got mostly B’s on his report card, and he loved sports. Especially football. He was active in his youth group and he had a lot of friends. Jason was the one who was always up for going places and trying new things. From all appearances…my son loved life. But on July 16th in 1997, everything changed. My son, Jason became a statistic of the “Silent Epidemic” of youth suicide. In trying to come to terms with what happened, I began researching youth suicide. The statistics are very alarming. Did you know that on average, over 100 young people this week will become victims of youth suicide? Youth suicide can be prevented, and that is what The Jason Foundation is all about. I urge you to get involved. Together we can help stop this epidemic. Ask for our material. Read it. Then share it with your friends, family and others. Please help us reach out to hurting teens with another choice. I will never hug my son again. But I can and will work alongside you…perhaps to save your friend, your neighbor’s child, a relative or even your own son or daughter.
