Mentorship is such a powerful tool, not only for those that mentor but also for those on the receiving end.  It goes beyond simply guiding someone, sharing your experiences, and offering help. It's about creating a relationship that lasts a lifetime. When you're invited to celebrate their milestones, share a dinner before they embark on their next journey, or hear the exciting news about how they achieved what once seemed impossible, it's #priceless. This is the experience I want to share today because over the past few days, I've been rewarded with this feeling through my interns, whom I had the pleasure of mentoring and guiding. **Embracing Our Dreams with Olympic Motivation** As we watch the Paris Olympics unfold, I am enjoying every second and admiring the tenacity, dedication, and discipline of each person competing, planning, volunteering, and leading this event. Starting with some great news, this is the first Olympics to have an equal number of gender athletes— WOW! Women have come a long way since the first time they were allowed to compete in 1900, also in Paris. Only 22 women competed out of 997 athletes and were only allowed to compete in five sports: tennis, sailing, croquet, equestrianism, and golf. As the Olympic torch returns to Paris 124 years later, it is a bittersweet result that today there is an equal number of women competing in Paris as men in 152 sports. It just took 124 years. These athletes have dedicated their lives to getting to where they are today. Preparation takes a lifetime time of training physically, mentally, and emotionally. No matter what the results are, they all have something in common—their DREAMS.   However, a phenomenon known as the "Dream Gap" highlights a troubling reality: young girls often stop believing they can be anything they want to be by the age of five. This gap is fueled by society stereotypes, gender biases, and a lack of representation in various fields, which collectively eliminate the dreams of young girls and restrict their potential.   Today, I am asking all women: let's commit to closing the Dream Gap. Let's collectively create awareness, speak about it, and think of what we dreamed at five years old and how those dreams changed and turned out. Let’s commit so that through the efforts of parents, educators, and communities, we can foster an environment where girls feel empowered to pursue their ambitions without limitations and continue to dream so they can plan their journey to fulfill them.   Through mentorship, inclusive education, and positive role models, we can bridge this gap and ensure that every girl has the confidence and support to dream big and achieve her goals.   The Power of the Heels is committed to ending the Dream Gap by opening the doors to all high school girls who want to join our program #LOVINGMEMORE and dream of a future filled with success, financial independence, emotional happiness and health.   Interested in participating?
