This August, FEMA will launch the Recipients’ Awareness Campaign to educate grant recipients and sub-recipients on compliance with civil rights laws. This initiative is crucial for ensuring that programs and activities funded by FEMA are administered without discrimination, fostering more effective, inclusive disaster preparedness and recovery strategies. FEMA’s Office of Civil Rights will engage participants directly, offering training on relevant civil rights laws and executive orders. This will include opportunities for recipients to ask questions and gain clarity on their compliance responsibilities. The first training session is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, from 12 pm to 4 pm ET; additional sessions will follow throughout the year.
