Once upon a time, SEO was easy. For most us, we could do a quick analysis of the top-ranking content, write a similar article, and pop into the SERP that week. Easy peasy. Now? Not so much. We've got AI content. We've got Google algorithm changes. We've got AI Overviews. Ranking isn't as simple as copying what already exists. You have to go further. You have to go above and beyond. But what does that look like, exactly? Bernard Huang, founder of Clearscope, will break down what it takes to rank in this new world of SEO. On Thursday, he's joining us for a live workshop on how to create information gain content that outranks your competitors. Here's what he'll cover: 👉 What is information gain? 👉 How Google evaluates information gain 👉 The future of SEO content 👉 How to add information gain to your content Join us this Thursday at 1pm ET Grab your spot now 👇 https://lu.ma/evwdzeo4 P.S. - Can't join live? The old SEO content playbook was: 1️⃣ Skim the top ten results for your target keyword 2️⃣ Write an article that covers all the points from those articles, rewritten slightly 3️⃣ Build more links to your article than your competitors have And that worked great… Until it didn’t. I mean, if you’re Forbes or HubSpot you can still get away with that. But SEO has changed for the rest of us. And “information gain” is the name of the game in 2024. Not exactly sure what “information gain content” is – nevermind how to create it? Don’t worry. Bernard Huang has got you. Bernard is the Founder of Clearscope. Which means his livelihood depends on staying on the cutting edge of what’s working in content marketing and making sure his tool helps us create content worthy of topping the SERPs. And he’s all-in on information gain content. Join us for next week's free workshop to find out why… You’ll learn: 👉 What is information gain? 👉 Why information gain scores are the key to combating AI outputs 👉 How Google uses information gain to evaluate content 👉 What the future of SEO content looks like 👉 How to add information gain to your content And much more! I’ve always prided myself on being self-reliant Partly just because of how I am (only child much?) And partly because of the deep-rooted, toxic masculinity-induced belief that I shouldn’t ever need to ask anyone for help And that served me pretty well when all I had to worry about was my own grades in school But then I got a job And all of a sudden I needed to work with other people? And sometimes I needed to convince those people to sign off on the ideas I had and the strategies I came up with? Wowee was I bad at that 🙃 And hey, wanna know a secret? I’m still really bad at it 💀 So thank you Philipp Götza for penning this banger guide to 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘌𝘖 for Search Engine Land Let’s dive right into Philipp’s tried-and-tested techniques for getting buy-in on our bright ideas… 🎯 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 Forget facts and figures – if you want sign-off on your strategy or idea you’re going to need to show that you’re thinking with the company’s goals in mind, tell a convincing and persuasive story, empathise with the perspective of others, and make things as easy as possible for the people holding the pursestrings to understand. 💬 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗲 "We negotiate all the time, in life and in SEO. We tend to miss that we are rooted in very basic emotions like wanting to feel important or understood. To give other people that feeling we must listen to them." 🗝 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 Your boss or client doesn’t want higher rankings in Google or more SME-driven articles They want more profit It might be obvious to you that higher rankings or better-quality content will help drive profit… But to get buy-in on your proposal you're going to need to spell that out Philipp says input metrics are the key here For example, Amazon recognized that revenue goes up if they increase the number of views their in-stock products available with two-day shipping receive Knowing that, it was probably pretty easy for Amazon’s SEO team to justify a bigger investment in their work 🤷♂️ Establish how input metrics – like creating more BOFU content or reoptimising a batch of existing articles – are going to ultimately drive more profit and you’ll have a much better chance of getting buy-in Check out 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘌𝘖 by Philipp Götza for a crash course on how to get buy-in on your bright ideas 👇 https://lnkd.in/eX3ZrphD

The amazing Amanda Jackson recently asked Beam Content 💡’s brilliant writers for their top tips on how to become a better writer and popped them all into a banger of an article Here are as many key takeaways from that as we can cram into the character count of a LinkedIn post... --- 🙋 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 Brooklin Nash 💡 told Amanda he scours the hundreds of applications Beam receives for writers who… 1️⃣ 𝗦𝗮𝘆 “𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗫 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗔, 𝗕, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖”, because it shows they know their stuff 2️⃣ 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀, because it shows they can do more than just follow a four-bullet outline 3️⃣ 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀, because that’s just as important as being a solid writer (Brooklin’s first port of call for seeing what you’d be like to work with is your testimonials btw) --- 🎯 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 Rosanna Campbell coming in hot with a banger self-editing tip: “I have a voice in my head that asks, ‘What are you trying to say here? Using just one-syllable words, what is the point of what you are saying?’ Just say the thing” --- 👩🔬 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺 Once Hsing Tseng gets into a “writing groove”, she’s 100% productive for hours at a time. Rosanna Campbell, on the other hand, takes lots of breaks while she’s writing – and never stacks writing-heavy days back to back so she can recharge her creative batteries. Emily McIver works best in the morning. Amanda Jackson’s sweet spot is in the afternoon. Kristina Poulter writes her drafts from the top of her outline to the bottom. Hsing Tseng starts writing the section with the least friction first and works her way up to the sections with the most friction. We’re all different. The best writers experiment to find their own writing rhythm – and then lean into it rather than fight against it. --- ✅ 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀’ 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 Here comes Rosanna Campbell to give us all one of those “why have I never thought of that before?” moments: “I have a template for each client that I use when I’m about to start writing. It has any feedback I’ve gotten as a checklist at the top” --- 🧠 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝘁? sarah brooks “gets into her client’s head” before she starts writing for them. She reads some of their existing content to hear their voice and make sure she’s writing as them rather than as Sarah. --- Check out Amanda Jackson’s awesome article for a bunch more insights into how to become the crème de la crème of the content writing world from Beam’s brilliant writers 👇 https://lnkd.in/eWBQFXMP
