It's #TransformationTuesday! The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development uses brownfields funding to help Minnesota communities clean up contaminated sites, while creating good jobs and safe housing. #BeforeAndAfter The CHS Ballpark in St. Paul was occupied by a manufactured gas plant and railroad yard from the 1880s to the 1960s. It was later used by The Gillette Company and Diamond Products Company for the manufacture of personal care products and paper correction fluid. After a successful cleanup project funded in part by EPA, the site became a minor league ballpark for the Saint Paul Saints baseball team! ⚾

We're going batty for #BatNight! 🦇 EPA and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation started field studies to develop a better understanding of the use of the Pike Hill Copper Mine Superfund site by threatened and endangered bats. Most recently, researchers have been conducting acoustic monitoring, bat capture, banding and tracking, and habitat assessments. The goal is to design the remedial activities and work areas to minimize disruption of bat activity and habitats, and to establish a site restoration plan that supports the recovery of threatened and endangered bats. *Only trained professionals should handle bats.
