U.S. Representative Zach Nunn announced a $1.6 million federal investment to remodel and expand programs at Iowa Homeless Youth Centers - IHYC's Youth Opportunity Center in Des Moines. IHYC offers vital services such as daily meals, clothing, educational programming, and mental health counseling. “The funding for Iowa Homeless Youth Centers is a significant step forward in our mission to provide safe and supportive environments for youth who are at-risk or experiencing homelessness," YSS President and CEO Andrew Allen said. The Achievement Tea celebrates youth served by Iowa Homeless Youth Centers - IHYC, a YSS organization. The event is also an opportunity to recognize community partners and volunteers who support the IHYC mission. We are looking back and celebrating winners from this year’s event! 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐫 began volunteering at IHYC in June 2023, and her contributions have been invaluable. Jane helps with tasks like making dinners, organizing donations, and cleaning the clothing closet every Wednesday. She even preps meals for the following week. Jane's willingness to assist with any task and her cheerful demeanor have made a significant impact, embodying the spirit of the Volunteer of the Year at IHYC. #WeAreYSS
