For our second Intern Day in The Life compilation video, meet interns Gabe, Estella, and Karen. Gabe and Karen work out of two of our distribution centers while Estella is a remote intern. The projects they touch on include working on PowerBi reports, working with CVP machines, and reviewing communication logs. Congratulations to Thomas Crain, Digital Content Specialist, on his 10-year work anniversary! Learn more about his time with us below.    ▪ What has motivated you to stay at the company for so many years?     The culture of the company is what has kept me here for so long. I met a lot of wonderful people in this company who want to help WebstaurantStore keep growing and keep being better for the customer. I align with that because I want the customer to have excellent service from us which I can accomplish through our digital content and making sure the site is user-friendly. This company, the culture, and the team members are my motivation, and I can’t wait to see the growth in the years to come!     ▪ What advice would you give to new employees just starting at WebstaurantStore?    Be an ideal team player who is hungry, humble, and smart. Our culture thrives on those who want to take on more responsibility, make good judgments for the company's betterment, and be emotionally smart with fellow team members. I was taught this in my first week of being with the company and I have never forgotten it. I believe this is what any team member should strive for and will help them accomplish any goals they have.    ▪ WebstaurantStore provides “Anniversary Days” to tenured employees. On your 10-year anniversary, you get an additional 10 days of PTO that must be used in a row! Any big plans for your Anniversary Days?   I took my wife down to the Cubs vs. Orioles series in Baltimore this year because it was during our anniversary, and they are both our favorite teams. The series between the Cubs and Orioles is special to us because I asked her to marry me 8 years ago at a series just like this one. We both had a great time and enjoyed every minute. 

Over the last few weeks, our interns took over our social media stories to give others a glimpse into their days. Our first compilation video features four interns who are in a mix of remote and hybrid roles. Happy National Intern Day! We’re thankful for all of our interns who joined us this summer. While our interns have been busy learning and contributing to their teams, they’ve also been busy with our intern programming. Rachel Bartow, Recruitment Specialist, led the efforts of coordinating our programming along with other recruitment team members. There’s a mix of social events, Q&A sessions with executive-level leadership, and volunteer opportunities.   

Leaders from our distribution center in Albany, GA have been very active in the community. They’ve recently attended several events held by the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce (ARC). This includes networking events and connecting with local business owners and community members. At ARC’s One Voice Celebration, they received a Community Partner award recognizing their community engagement. Here’s what Cheryl Maddox, Operations Manager of Training and Development, has to say about her involvement: "One of the reasons I was drawn to working at WebstaurantStore is the opportunity for community involvement. I value being part of a company that is as dedicated to the community as it is to its employees."
