These two young friends show us the true spirit of the Y. Mehkai and Gavin raised more than $1,450 for our Y Annual Campaign by holding bake sales! Their hearts for helping families who cannot afford to pay for swim lessons, summer day camp, or even participate in a team sport is an inspiration to all! If you want to donate today in honor of Gavin and Mehkai, just text "GIVING" to 71777 or visit https://lnkd.in/db3MzEzW

The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living, and for social responsibility. A strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. We believe that to bring about meaningful change in individuals and communities, we must be focused and accountable. At the Y, we measure the success of our cause by how well we engage communities in our three areas of impact. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Empowering young people to reach their full potential HEALTHY LIVING Improving individual and community well-being SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Providing support and inspiring action in our communities The Y is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life working side by side to strengthen communities. Together we work to ensure everyone—regardless of gender, income, faith, sexual orientation or cultural background—has the opportunity to live life to its fullest. We share the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility—everything we do stems from it. We know that the key to effectively nurturing the potential of children, improving the nation’s health and well-being and supporting our neighbors is a passionate, experienced and diverse array of staff, volunteers and members who value what everyone brings to the table.

Hayley light is 6 years old and was born with a condition that has kept her from walking. After coming to Greenville for a surgery at the Shriners Children's Hospital, she and her family started attending Caine Halter Family YMCA for aqua therapy. Today, we celebrated DIANA WATSON who has been an integral part of the Y mission for the past 5 years. In her time as the Chief Philanthropy Officer at the YMCA of Greenville, she has led the development team's Annual Campaign, championed Day of Giving, and founded the Y Food Program. Her impact on the Greenville community will be felt for years to come and we are so grateful for the time that she served with us. We wish her luck in her next endeavors!

The YMCA of Greenville celebrated its Food Program volunteers this week by joining together in fellowship. Over 20 dedicated volunteers join us every week to pack and deliver food bags for those in Greenville County facing food insecurities. This program was started in May of 2020 by DIANA WATSON and has served over 70,000 bags of food to families, seniors, veterans, children, and people with diverse abilities. That equals more than a million meals. We are so grateful for our incredible volunteers and Diana for their service to this program. If you feel led to give to this program, visit https://lnkd.in/eJgt6XS9

We are proud to share that Teresa Collins, assistant aquatics program director for the Caine Halter Family YMCA, was honored with the Red Cross Life Saving Award Certificate of Merit by the American Red Cross of South Carolina. It is the most prestigious lifesaving award conferred by the Red Cross and is signed by the president of the United States. The Certificate of Merit is given to individuals who save or sustain a life using skills learned in a Red Cross Training Services course. Teresa was nominated for this award after she witnessed and responded to an accident involving a 4-wheeler and an ATV and provided life-saving care to an individual with severe injuries including a broken pelvis and broken leg. We are extremely proud to have Teresa on our team and grateful she had the right training and was in the right place to save a life. Teresa recommends that everyone receive Red Cross CPR and First Aid training so that they, too, can be prepared to save a life. To sign up for a class, visit https://lnkd.in/gQpkfGus
