Attending the Yoola Creator Summit with my colleague, Badmus Femi, in Lagos was an exciting experience! I had the opportunity to participate in a session showcasing exciting opportunities presented by Yoola for the Nigerian creator economy. The summit featured insightful sessions from industry leaders like Seyi Oyefeso FCA, ACIT, who spoke on "Leading a Successful Business in the Digital Era," Solafunmi Sosanya, who covered "Content Monetization for Top Creators," Adetutu Laditan, from the YouTube Marketing Team in Sub-Saharan Africa, who shared the "Latest YouTube Platform News and Updates." Yury Smagarinsky, Yoola's CEO, spoke on the "Nigerian Creator Market, Its Opportunities, and Yoola's Position in Supporting Creators," while Nikita Kapusta, Yoola's Head of Partner Growth and Development, also discussed "Yoola Case Studies in Nigeria and Growth Strategies for YouTubers." Our incredible host, Tomike Adeoye, was amazing with her energy and engagement, instantly spreading enthusiasm throughout the room from the start of the summit! Being part of Yoola’s foray into the Nigerian economy and helping to communicate new tools, opportunities, and growth strategies to Nigerian creators has been the greatest honour for me so far!

CEO of Yoola | Innovating the Future of AI-Driven Video Creation | Stanford Executive Program

I had an incredible experience joining top creators, Nigerian creator partners, and industry experts at the Yoola Creators Summit in Lagos, Nigeria! Nigeria’s content industry—fueled by Nollywood, Afrobeats, and Comedy—has seen remarkable growth, especially on platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Nollywood, the second-largest film industry globally, produces around 2,500 movies annually, contributing over $660 million to Nigeria's GDP in 2021. It's projected to boost export revenues to over $1 billion by 2026. YouTube is a vital platform for Nigerian creators, with comedians like Broda Shaggi (Yoola Partner), KieKie (Yoola Partner), and Taaooma (Yoola Partner) leading the charge with massive followings and viewership. In 2023, Nigeria’s entertainment and media industry was valued at $10.8 billion, driven by the rise of subscription services and increasing mobile internet access. At the summit, in collaboration and with special thanks to thought leaders like Seyi Oyefeso FCA, ACIT, Solafunmi Sosanya, Adetutu Laditan, Karl Olutokun Toriola, A'isha Mumuni and Miebaka Anga we explored how Yoola is positioned to help Nigerian creators achieve greater success—ranging from content monetization to AI inclusions, to investment opportunities and corporate partnerships. Despite entering the Nigerian market just a year ago, we’ve already formed strong bonds with leading creators across various segments. At the Yoola Creator Summit, we facilitated direct connections between creators and corporate entities like YouTube, First Bank of Nigeria Ltd., and MTN Nigeria. Nigerian creators are ambitious and defy common misconceptions. I'm excited to continue fostering new partnerships and supporting even more creators as we help unlock their full potential with Yoola!

CEO of Yoola | Innovating the Future of AI-Driven Video Creation | Stanford Executive Program

I recently challenged myself by running the San Francisco 10K Marathon, where I set a new personal record. The experience of pushing through the urge to stop brought me a profound sense of accomplishment and a fresh perspective on running and life. I'm currently enrolled in the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and it's been an incredible journey so far. The program's intensity—daily schedules from 8 AM to 9 PM filled with sessions, assignments, readings, and interactions—mirrors the marathon experience in many ways. Five weeks in, and the mental and emotional demands have been exhausting but transformative, helping me unlock new levels of resilience. Reflecting on both experiences, I've realized how endurance, perseverance, and a supportive community can lead to personal growth. A huge thank you to my amazing classmates—Howie Lau, CPA, Sholpan Nurumbet, Oleg Baranov, Christophe Izart, Joo Peng Tan, Lucas Demeterco, Ivan Didus, Udaya Peyyeti, and Yury Shishkin—with whom I also ran the race I'm excited to share more about the program, including the courses and our inspiring professors, once it wraps up. But for now, I'd love to hear from you: What's a challenge you've recently faced that pushed you to grow?

It's no secret that creators face considerable content monetization challenges, with 58.3% reporting recent difficulties in monetizing their content. However, this slightly improved from the 61.5% reported in 2023. Regarding monetization methods, live streaming, ad-revenue share programs, and paid subscriptions remain popular. Notably, brand sponsorships have seen a 14% decrease compared to the previous year. For better monetization opportunities, content reach, and platform growth, reach out to the Yoola team today.

YouTube viewers are consuming over 1 billion hours of content daily on TV screens, but that's not the only reason creators love the platform!.. Here are three (3) reasons why creators enjoy distributing their content via YouTube💜: ✅ Clear Commission Structure: Creators earn 55% of the ad revenue generated from their content on YouTube, while YouTube takes 45%. This straightforward model has been in place for many years, providing transparency and consistency. ✅ Sophisticated Commission Attribution: YouTube's ad revenue system is highly sophisticated, allowing for precise attribution of ad views and clicks to each creator. This ensures creators are accurately compensated for the engagement their content generates. ✅ Advertiser-Friendly Google Ads: With over 2 billion monthly active users, YouTube attracts significant advertising spend due to its effective targeting, detailed analytics, and brand safety measures. While platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok also provide ad revenue to creators, certain factors within their content and platform models reduce the total ad revenue generated for creators. For more details on these factors, download the document below!
