What are effective strategies for building confidence before a speech?
I teach two types of breathing to prepare for a speech. There is the deep breathing which is scientifically proven to break down the cortisol in your body and calm yourself. You want to do this leading up to the speech as you feel anxiety. But right before you want to switch to a performance breath. This is a short shallow breath to get your blood pumping and get you in that higher state of energy! You want to have your blood pumping and be in the zone. Actors and athletes do this before taking the stage or hitting the field. Try these two techniques and you will surely be successful!

Here's how you can enhance your leadership presence through public speaking.
I completely agree that authenticity in a speech is crucial for connection with your audience. You must tap into your story of who you are and why they should care. Show your human side and connect with the audience so they feel your message. Don't be afraid to share your own personal stories. I often speak on my own challenges I faced to get where I am and the lessons within. Audiences want to feel inspired and impacted in some way. You want to be that unforgettable speaker they go home and tell others about.

Connecting with your authentic story is key when defining your personal brand through speaking. Don’t be afraid to embrace who you are when speaking - beyond just a business message. We all have stories to tell that make us who we are today. Dig deep to identify which story speaks to your personal brand and that becomes the making of an incredible speech.
