Safisana builds commercially viable waste recycling plants for governments and industries that need a solution to manage their waste, lower their carbon footprint, and foster sustainable growth for themselves and the community. Our recycling plant in Ashaiman (Greater Accra) opened in 2017 as the first waste-to-resource plant in West Africa and currently impacts over 80,000 people with improved health, hygiene, socioeconomic livelihoods, employment, and food security. Our ambition is to increase our impact to 8 million people in 2030. The only way to ensure our impact will be long-lasting is to build sustainable ie. commercially viable recycling plants. To complete this mission, we are scaling our current production capacity in Ghana to its full potential and scanning and developing new project opportunities across Africa. For Safisana, working with local food and beverage industries as suppliers of organic waste and as off-takers of energy and fertilizer is key to anchoring the model into the community and creating long-lasting impacts on public health. For the local industry, it is a big opportunity to work with Safisana to decarbonize and become socially and environmentally responsible businesses.
