Last week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ OSDBU attended the Department of Defense Mentor Protégé Summit 2024 in Detroit, Michigan. We were joined by other local, state, and federal government agencies, members of Michigan’s congressional delegation, and representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). United under one roof, we dedicated ourselves to the small business mission. This four-day event was packed with impactful learning, collaboration, and business engagement, fostering growth and support for our small business communities. HHS OSDBU hosted its first partnership event with The BOW Collective on Monday, July 29, at the HHS Headquarters Building. With over 90 attendees, this event featured key panel and plenary sessions that highlighted the importance of women-owned small businesses within the HHS acquisition landscape. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in 1:1 matchmaking sessions with key HHS acquisition officials and large prime contractors. In recognition of National Black Business Month, we acknowledge the Black-owned businesses across the country and commend The BOW Collective for their efforts in bringing awareness, opportunities, and capital resources to Black women enterprises. They were also joined by SBA Director for Government Contracting, Francine Morris.
