SBA Resources

Veterans Business Outreach Centers

Through their Veterans Business Outreach Center, the SBA provides assistance for Veterans who own or are considering starting a small business. These outreach centers provide business development-related services, including:

  • pre-business plan workshops
  • concept assessments
  • business plan preparations
  • comprehensive feasibility analysis
  • entrepreneurial training and counseling
  • mentorship

SBA Resources

Boots to Business Training

The SBA also offers the Boots to Business (B2B) training program as a track through the U.S. Department of Defense’s Transition Assistance Program (TAP). This course provides an introduction to entrepreneurship, offered to transitioning servicemembers and their spouses. The SCORE Foundation

Veteran Entrepreneur Resources

SCORE is dedicated to helping Veteran entrepreneurs through mentoring and education. They connect Veteran-owned businesses with resources and mentors, some of whom served in the military and understand the challenges and opportunities firsthand.

Federal Contracting Assistance Programs for Veterans

Small Veteran-owned businesses looking to contract with the government may be able to take advantage of several federal assistance programs that help Veteran-owned businesses access federal contract awards and surplus personal property. 

Veteran Franchise Opportunities

VetFran®

If you'd like to own your own business but don't have an innovative idea ready or are wary of startup risks, buying a franchise may be right for you. The VetFranFootnote 1 program offers access to financial incentives, such as lower franchise fees, that aren't available to civilian franchise investors. Currently, over 500 franchise companies participate in the program.
