The former heart surgeon and member of parliament said he pledged to be “a voice for the voiceless and rejected” after he was declared the winner of Iran’s presidential runoff election. The victory for reformists is a turn from the hardline presidency of Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash in May.
