Roads and Parking

Because you need to travel safely and efficiently, The Town of New Glasgow maintains streets, roads, and sidewalks that can get you there—no matter the weather. Whether you’re driving, walking, or biking, you can expect to travel on a quality surface that’s cared for in sun, rain, and snow.

The Engineering & Public Works Department is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of approximately 80 kilometres of roadways and sidewalks, monitors and maintains the main stormwater inlets and works to keep the catch basin grates clear to prevent flooding. They also do all the concrete work for replacement sidewalks and new construction as well as all the crosswalk, lane designation and centre line painting.

The Engineering & Public Works Transportation Department operates a fleet of graders, loaders, tandem and single axle trucks, one-ton trucks, half-ton trucks, street sweepers, vacuum trucks for catch basins, and numerous other pieces of construction equipment.
