Maquia would be an excellent movie to watch on Mother's Day thanks to its focus on motherhood. It's a movie filled with bliss. The visual and sound design is amazing, making Maquia a brilliant work of art. There is an immense attention to detail and a unique realism to the animation too. Overall, I'd highly recommend Maquia. It is a movie that takes you on an exciting and thrilling journey, while inspiring your own reflection and (hopefully) growth as a person. ARE YOU CRAZY! after watching this film I also called my mother and say thank you too THAT'S CRAZYYY!!!! This director must be a voodoo On a serious side, this movie is a bitter-sweet movie that has a strong character complexion and connection. but one thing that bugged me off in this movie, probably the timeskip and the other character with her own daughter, I still don't understand that, but the main stories kept me in touch. it's a nice mothers day movie. This still probably one of the best film that can put my film shelf on a spotlight. its a cinema-piece baby... p.s don't forgot to call your mother. I don't want none of y'all crying to this movie and still don't call your mother for thanking them that you were still alive till this day! and if your mother dead visit them graves will ya. Its got an almost medieval setting to it and thematically it reminded me a little of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and also of Violet Evergarden, with loneliness being a key theme - that and displacement. As ever with such an anime film, the quality of the seemingly 2D animation is quite remarkable and I particularly liked the scenes which showed more traditional animation but with a 3D element, such as it seeming as if the camera is swooping through (sometimes quite vibrantly colourful) landscapes. Its quite an engrossing watch in a sense. I appreciate how honest the main character is, to other characters and I'd say the dialogue/script is quite good. It's perhaps a little sentimental for some but I certainly enjoyed it overall - I also liked the music played in the background of some scenes, including harp music. It adds to the overall atmosphere. I enjoyed this film and I would recommend it to others, yes.
