Vinson Cunningham New Yorker Presumed Innocent is a fun, lurid, flawed, addictive whodunnit. Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Don Aucoin Boston Globe Clocking in at eight episodes, “Presumed Innocent” is yet another streaming miniseries that blithely glides past the “mini,” seemingly indifferent to the value of narrative concision while focused instead on creating a broody atmosphere. Jul 29, 2024 Full Review David Bianculli NPR It's also an update and a substantial revision... That's freeing in a way, as is Kelley's impressive approach to revising the story. Jul 25, 2024 Full Review tt stern-enzi WXIX-TV (Cincinnati, OH) It's a quieter film, with a more focused, grounded character... Rated: A Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex Presumed Innocent thrives with its stellar cast and top-notch writing. In many ways, it's one of the best shows of 2024. Sue H Once I left behind my strong memories of the film which I loved, I thought this was an excellent drama with lots of tension and intrigue. Great acting all round. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review Traci Unbreakable G Such a great suspenseful show! I need more! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review Jennifer M I was actually surprised at how good the reviews were for this series. I admit, a pet peeve of mine is when film or series deviate from the novel in such a substantial way so perhaps that is part of what bothered me. First, the book from Scott Turow is very good. There are several mini plots that the long 8-part series did not even touch. The 1990 film with Harrison Ford as the lead is spot on to the novel. The main protagonist, Rusty Sabich is a brilliant prosecutor who is more loyal than ambitious and while flawed (with his affair) is actually a sympathetic character. The conclusion is brilliant and the supporting actors wonderful (Raul Julia, John Spencer) While I like Jake Gyllenhaal, his portrayal of Rusty was very different. Rusty is incredibly unlikable, so much so I found myself routing against him. This one storyline dragged for 8 long episodes. There was a great court scene during final arguments, but really didn't like the ending at all. I won't spoil it, but the entire story is so different from the book, it really was not based at all on the novel and perhaps just should been an original story. Aside from Ruth Negga, Peter Sarsgaard, and Bill Camp, the acting was mediocre (especially the young actors). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/01/24 Full Review Brian D 93%. Loved this show. Loved how detailed the whole trial was. Loved the rivalry between the prosecution and defense with both sides being former colleagues. Loved how it was very unclear who the killer was with several possibilities. And the ending was great too with him assuming it was his wife but doing what he could to defend her and his family. 5/5 rewatch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/01/24 Full Review Edmond W Good Show. Great actors though some people doesn't like the ending but I believe overall it's a good one. Definitely one of the best shows in 2024. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/01/24 Full Review Trey E not many shows have me hooked in at the edge of my seat, couldnt predict the ending either. Great TV.
