How did we choose a topic?
When researching for topics to choose from we came upon Space AD and decided to take
some “inspiration.” We then looked for topics relating with the theme about space and found
Apollo 11. This topic interested us because of the its relevancy and world breaking barriers
involving the moon and the first man to step on it. We then researched about it and discovered
the interesting fact about the life of the men that boarded Apollo 11. We had then set up a
meeting involving the topic and on whether we will choose it or not and decided to do so.

Why did we choose our category?

We created a website this year for our history project. We had experience using Weebly as
our website builder, which meant we had experience navigating and manipulating the site. Using
the website was practical and easy knowing that we had different periods available for us to work
and access the project.

How did we conduct research?

We started our research by going to the official NASA website to get the basic
information about the flight. We continued our research in the internet researching about Neil
Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins, the men that boarded and flew Apollo 11, and
their journey in managing, controlling, and piloting the space shuttle. After that, we researched
the “Moon Walk” or the landing on the moon and Nasa’s accomplishment of outcoming gravity
and being the first man to set foot on the moon. Finally, we continued researching online
finishing details that are necessary or that will support the theme.

How does our topic relate to the theme?

This year’s topic, breaking the barrier, relates to Apollo 11, and its accomplishments
achieved that had never been done before. Many barriers were broken throughout the process of
Apollo 11, one of them was outcoming gravity, one of the many “allies” of Apollo 11. Another
of barriers broken was being one of the fist space shuttles to land securely on the moon’s surface.
One more of the many barriers broken was helping Neil Armstrong and his crew land and be the
first men to step on the moon.

How did we create our project?

We stayed from time to time, talking and discussing about the projects theme, and how
we need to choose a topic relating to it for the first 2 weeks. We then proceeded to choose the
corresponding topic that we agreed on and researched basic information on it. After that, we
started working on the website and getting schedules ready for us to work.
