PROJECT BRIEF
This project aims to renovate classroom broken or faulty windows in the U-Building. The goal
is to provide every classroom in TUPC a noise free environment. There are many ways that
students use in order to learn and listening is one of that. This project will address the problem
caused by external noises disrupting classes. Making sure that student’s attentions are
undisrupted by unnecessary noises will make learning more effective. In line with this, the
project would need the help of the concerned TUPC officials for funding and implementation.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Technological University of the Philippines Cavite campus was established decades ago. It
has been in operation until now and it is apparent that as time pass by the structure of the
buildings inside the campus are not the same as what they are from the past. In the context of this
proposal, the focus is the U-Building. The building serves as classroom for multiple subjects
such as Physics, Chemistry, and liberal arts. This building also has rooms that are used by the
faculty. Every foundation day students participate for cleaning the rooms and wipe its windows
but that is not enough because some of them are already faulty due to rust and cracks.

JUSTIFICATION
It has been shown in multiple researches in different disciplines that noise points out a negative
impact on learning (Woolner & Hall, 2010). Preventing any external form of noise is a great way
to prevent any disruption during lectures and any other classroom activity. The way it can be
done in the U-Building is by repairing some windows that are rusty so that they can be opened
and closed easily without having the risk of breaking it. In the case of some shattered or broken
window glasses it is important that they are replaced because they can be a start of accident,
injury and the noise tolerability of classroom because sound waves easily pass through them. A
student will not be able to clearly hear his/her professor well when the classroom is disrupted by
any outside activities and this makes it hard for them to get a grasp of what the professor is
talking about. Furthermore, it can also hinder the communication between the professor and the
student inside the class because when it is very loud outside and the room is affected, the
conversation or interaction inside the room will not be clearly heard. Also, hearing is one of the
actions that contribute to learning and with it being hindered by some noises outside it can have a
negative effect to the learner. Hence, a good learning environment is an essential factor which
contributes to attentive students and effective learning.

OBJECTIVES

Specific Who? : This project is proposed to be implemented by the finance

department.
What? : This project targets to repair rusty windows and replace some
broken ones.
Why? : External noises are a problem during lecture hours.
Where? : It will be in U-Building of TUP Cavite campus.
Measurable Monitor the progress of the project daily and ensure that it is following the
project time frame.
Attainable The project will not involve total replacement of windows because it will
cost a lot of money. Therefore, it will only consist of cleaning rusty ones
and replacing the shattered and broken ones.
Realistic Improving the state of classroom windows should be the main priority in
order for it to be able to tolerate external noises.
Time-bound A week before the start of the new term, the project should already be
finished. The target is to make sure that classrooms are usable by the time
summer classes arrive.

METHODOLOGY
This project will follow the SMART objective above. To do this, the project will solely focus on
renovating the classroom windows. Structures such as doors, blackboards, and chairs are not
included. It is important that the project have allocated fund for the repair costs and the labor
costs. The project should be done in the maximum time frame of one week for cleaning rusty
windows and replacing shattered and broken ones. To attain the expected outcome the
implementing unit should monitor the progress of the project to ensure that project will be done
in the expected time frame.

RESOURCES NEEDED
People (Work Resources), this is the most essential part because people involved will be the ones
to manage and/or implement the plan. The project would also require money for cleaning some
rust and replacing some broken windows. Thus it is very important to have a partnered entity
who will survey the cost of repairs for funding the project.

PROGRAM DURATION
● The project should be done for a one and a half week before the new term starts. The
building has 3 floors. Fixing of windows should be done by floor.
● The project plan is put together by the campus staff and workers.
● The approach should be done before any summer class to avoid conflict of schedule.

EXPECTED RESULTS
● After the renovation of the classroom windows it is expected that the noise coming from
outside will be lowered or tolerable since making sound proof classes with just
renovating windows is impossible. This project should help students become more
attentive in classes and avoid any outside disturbance during lectures.
