Slide 1:

Hello! My name is Festeu Ioana Adelina, I’m in 1431 (fourteen-thirtyone) group and my project
is about Starlink satellites.
Slide 2:
Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, know as SpaceX, is a private American aerospace
manufacturer and space transportation services company headquartered in California. It was
founded in 2002 (two thousand and two) by Elon Musk with the goal of reducing space
transportation costs.
Slide 3:
SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy the world's
most advanced broadband internet system.
Starlink satellites is the most important project for this company.
Slide 4:
The satellites were launched into orbit with the help of the Falcon 9 rocket have in their
component:
AUTONOMOUS COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Starlink satellites utilize inputs from the Department of Defense’s debris tracking system to
autonomously perform maneuvers to avoid collisions with space debris and other spacecraft.
This capability reduces human error, allowing for a more reliable approach to collision
avoidance.
LESS MASS, MORE COMPACT
Each satellite weighs approximately 260 (two hundred and sixty) kg and features a compact,
flat-panel design that minimizes volume, allowing for a dense launch stack to take full
advantage of the launch capabilities of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket.
ANTENNAS
With 4 powerful phased array antennas on each satellite, an enormous amount of throughput
can be placed and redirected in a short time, for an order of magnitude lower cost.
SINGULAR SOLAR ARRAY
Starlink satellites feature a single solar array, significantly simplifying the system; solar cells are
standardized, and easy to integrate into the manufacturing process.
ION PROPULSION SYSTEMS
Starlink satellites are equipped with efficient ion thrusters powered by krypton that enable the
satellites to orbit raise, maneuver in space, and deorbit at the end of their useful life. Starlink is
the first krypton propelled spacecraft ever flown.
STAR TRACKER
Custom-built in-house navigation sensors tell each satellite its attitude, which helps enable
precision placement of broadband throughput.
Slide 5:
Starlink is on the leading edge of on-orbit debris mitigation, meeting or exceeding all regulatory
and industry standards.
At end of life, the satellites will utilize their on-board propulsion system to deorbit over the
course of a few months. In the unlikely event the propulsion system becomes inoperable, the
satellites will burn up in Earth’s atmosphere within 1-5 years, significantly less than the
hundreds or thousands of years required at higher altitudes.
Slide 6:
People panicked when they saw this train of stars in the sky, thinking they had seen UFOs, but
it's all part of Elon Musk's big plan to "help humanity." Specifically, these satellites are a small
part of a "gift for humanity".
Slide 7:
A lot of questions were born after the appearance of these satellites in the sky, some of them
being these.
• What Starlink satellites do?
• How many Starlink satellites are currently in orbit?
• What do scientists think about these satellites?
• How can I see Starlink satellites?
Following the presentation, I tried to answer these questions.
Slide 8:
Starlink is a satellite constellation to provide satellite Internet access. The constellation will
consist of thousands of mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit , working in
combination with ground transceivers. SpaceX also plans to sell some of the satellites for
military, scientific, or exploratory purposes.

Slide 9:
The SpaceX Starlink mega-constellation now has 422 (four hundred and twenty-two) satellites
orbiting the Earth after the essential launch of another batch of 60 (sixty) satellites on April
23(twenty-three), this year.
Slide 10:
On this slide I introduced a video showing the train of satellites launched last month into orbit.

Slide 11:
Scientists have a negative opinion beacause they say these satellites are a constant source of
concern, possible collisions with scientific instruments or other satellites, distortion of data
obtained from astronomical observations but also a possible impediment to the identification
of asteroids that represent a danger to Earth.
Slide 12:
To find out exactly when a Starlink train will be visible from your precise location, visit the Find
Starlink website or search “Find Starlink Satellites” app and just enter your location.
Slide 13:
Here I introduced screenshots with the application.
With her help I had the opportunity to see the amazing train of satellites on the sky in Romania.
Slide 14:
finally I introduced another video with the satellite train, but also a link where you can find out
more about this stalink project
Slide 15:
Thank you and I hope you enjoyed it
