LAGAAN
The people of small village in Victorian India stake their future on a game of cricket against
their ruthless British rulers.
This is the story about the resilience shown by the Indians when they were under the British
rule. They are already taxed to the bone by the British and their cronies , but when Jack
Russell announces that he will double the Lagaan (tax) from all the villagers , they decide to
oppose it. Leading the villagers is a handsome young man named Bhuvan, who challenges
them to a game of cricket, a game that is to be played by veteran British cricket players,
versus villagers, including Bhuvan himself, who have never played this game before , and do
not even know a bat from a piece of wood. As the challenge is accepted, the interest grows
and attracts Indians from all over the region, as well as the British from all over the country
as everyone gathers to see the ‘fair play’ that the British will display against their counter
parts who are aided by none other than the sister, Elizabeth, of captain Russell.

Kabir Khan, the coach of the Indian Women’s National Hockey Team, dreams of making his
all girls team emerge victorious against all odds.
Kabir khan knows what its like to come back from the dead. Kabir Khan is termed as a traitor
after loosing a match to rival Pakistan he goes on missing for years, seven years later he
resurfaces to take up the job of coach for Indian women’s hockey team which the
association believes is of no use. Kabir takes charge of sixteen member team which is
divided in between competitive, district and seniority but Kabir’s aim is that we are not
playing for any of these but India. The team isn’t happy with his tough coaching and strict
discipline and want to sack him finally he resigns. During Kabir’s farewell the women get in
scuffle with men trying to get smart with the team and bash them badly and Kabir sees his
team unity. The accepts their mistake and ask him to remain their coach now Kabir’s only
aim is to take the team to world cup in Australia.

A Delhi girl from a traditional family sets out on a solo honeymoon after her marriage gets
cancelled.
Delhi girl rani is set to be married to Vijay a day before her wedding Vijay tells Rani that he
does not want to marry her as by living abroad his lifestyle has changed and he wont be able
to adjust with Ranis conservative habits. Rani locks herself in a room for a day but later asks
permission from her parents to allow her to go for her pre booked honeymoon in Paris and
neighboring countries her parents hesitate but finally agree. In Paris Rani meets
Vijayalakshmi whose a high spirited Indian girl with French decent she tours Rani allover the
city where Rani does things for first time which Vijay didn’t allow her to do. Rani has to bid
Paris and Vijayalakshmi and got to Amsterdam where she has roommates Taka from Japan,
Tim from France, and Oleksander from Russia who befriend her. Rani now starts to gain
confidence in herself after encounter with Vijayalakshmi and her new friends
ENGLISH VINGLISH
A quiet, sweet tempered housewife endures small slights from well educated husband and
daughter every day because of her inability to speak and understand English.
Shashi a traditional Indian housewife living in Pune, is continuously put down because she
does not know English. In the Indian culture, even within India, people are judged based on
their knowledge of English among other things. Her own children and husband even though
they think they are just being playful constantly tease and belittle her. When Shashi has to
had to new York to prepare for her nieces wedding she finds that the language barrier
because an even bigger problem to the point where she struggles to even order a cup of
coffee. In order to please her family and society and to make life just a little easier Shashi
takes it upon herself in an English speaking course. As she overcomes her insecurity and
masters a new language, she undergoes a transformation and even meets people with the
power to forever change her life in the big city.

follows their travel to find their long lost friend. While flashing back to the events of their
college years where they often got into amusing shenanigans involving dean of the college
Viru Sahastrabudhe and dealt with some serious events that many people encounter in
every day life
