NARRATIVE REPORT

 My name is Jamaica Razzel L. Sibayan , I’m 19 yr/old , 1st yr College of BS in Accountancy.

 INTRODUCTION:
This narrative is about vegetables how they were planted, cared for, grew to bloom, and you
produced this fruit and how it was grown. And this narrative will explain other information and
the importance of vegetables in the daily life of everyone.

STEP #1
The first day of my planting was fun and I didn’t have a hard time because we already have a garden to plant
vegetables and our first plants if planted are Lady Finger or (OKRA) & Eggplant, it’s fun to plant vegetables
and then for a week it came to life and it had a good result in 1 week if I took care of it I thought it would not
survive but it came to life I really have no interest in planting but I have experience in planting vegetables
because of elementary days so I learned to plant.

That's why it made my planting easier because of what I learned when I was in elementary and high school
from plowing to watering, how to take care of it until you produce what we planted with your classmates and
nothing is impossible if you study hard you can also help with knowledge so that you can apply it to your
home or garden in your home.

Antioxidants in eggplant, such as vitamins A and C, assist to protect your cells from harm. It's also abundant in
polyphenols, which are natural plant substances that may help your cells absorb sugar more effectively if you
have diabetes.

"Eggplants contain high quantities of the amino acid tyramine, which generates an increase in norepinephrine,
a stimulant that can promote sleep deprivation," adds Nate Watson, MD, MS, a member of the Sleep Score
Labs advisory board..

STEP #2
As time went on, my plants looked better and they grew, but the Lady finger(OKRA) died because the worms
ate its leaves so that I replaced it with eggplant, it grew faster and became more beautiful.

When I replaced it, the outcome of what I replaced was successful. It grew even more and the outcome was
better, so I continued to take care of it,until it was able to live and until he blossomed. A few months later this
was his outcome. given proper watering and proper care so that it can still bloom and bear much fruit. I also
put fertilizer in the soil no matter how nutritious the plant gets from the soil I planted, remove any kind of grass
that can grow from it

Raised beds, which heat up fast in the spring, are ideal for producing eggplants. Plants that are given enough
space to grow are healthier and more prolific, so space them out 212 to 3 feet in all directions. Water well, then
gently firm the soil around each plant with 1 to 2 cups of compost.

2
A balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) is often recommended for eggplant. Feeding too much nitrogen at this point
can result in large, leafy plants that fail to produce fruit.

• Leaves wilt, turn yellow, then brown. Whiteflies are tiny insects that will lift up in a cloud when an infected
plant is disturbed. These insects suck juices from plants and weaken them. Spray with insecticidal soap. Trap
whiteflies with Tanglefoot spread on a bright yellow card.
• Leaves appear scorched and wilted. Leafhoppers are green, brown, or yellow bugs ⅓-inch long with
wedge-shaped So that’s how they grow and bloom at the same time and that’s how they grow in just a few
days, that’s the speed I saw in the EGGPLANT that I planted, how fast they grow and it grows easily and you
can earn it if you have a big garden of vegetables you can plant it even without fertilizer it will still bear fruit.

when it blooms, just wait for a few days, maybe less than 1 week, as long as it is watered from morning and
afternoon, it is not difficult to flower as long as you check it every time you water, because maybe later an insect
will land on it, the flower will disappear or it will rot

Tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, squash, potatoes, and carrots, for example, require full sun, which is defined as a
garden area that receives at least six hours of direct light each day. ... However, keep in mind that no vegetable
can grow in deep, thick shadow.

Eggplant Growing Problems and Solutions

3
• Seedlings are cut off near the soil surface. Cutworms are gray or brown grubs that hide in the soil by day
and feed at night. Handpick grubs from the soil around plants. Keep the garden free of plant debris. Place a 3-
inch cardboard collar around the seedlings stem and push it 1 inch into the soil.
• Leaves roll downward but there is no yellowing or stunting. Physiological leaf roll, not caused by
pathogen; it may be a reaction to temperature or weather. Keep plants evenly watered. No action needed.
• Leaves deformed, curled, and discolored; plants are stunted. Aphids are small soft-bodied insects–green
and gray–that cluster on undersides of leaves. Aphids leave behind a sticky excrement called honeydew; black
sooty mold may grow on honeydew. Spray away aphids with a blast of water; use insecticidal soap; aluminum
mulch will disorient aphids. Aphid predators include lacewing flies, ladybugs, and praying mantis.
wings. Leafhoppers suck juices from leaves and stems. Spray with insecticidal soap or dust with diatomaceous
earth. Cover plants with floating row covers to exclude leafhoppers.
• Shoots are white or yellow stippled; thin, fine webbing appears on underside of leaves. Spider mites
suck plant juices causing stippling. Spray with water or use insecticidal soap or rotenone.
• Tiny round, shot holes in leaves; lower leaves are affected more than top ones. Flea beetles are tiny black
beetles that feed on leaves and jump when disturbed. Handpick beetles and destroy. Keep the garden free of
plant debris. Cultivate the soil deeply to destroy larvae in early spring and interrupt the life cycle.
• Leaves are eaten and plants are partially defoliated. Blister beetles and tomato hornworms eat leaves.
Handpick insects and destroy. Keep the garden weeds and debris. Cultivate in spring to kill larvae and interrupt
the life cycle. Pick off beetles by hand. Spray or dust with Sevin or use a pyrethrum or rotenone spray.
• Leaves and shoots are stripped. Colorado potato beetle is a yellow beetle ⅓ inch long with black stripes
and an orange head. Handpick off beetles. Keep the garden free of debris. Spray with a mixture of basil leaves
and water.
• White, frothy foam on stems. Spittle bugs are green insects that can be found beneath the foam. Handpick
and destroy. They do not cause significant damage and can be tolerated.
• Lower leaves wilt; leaves on one side of plant wilt; yellow patches on leaves. Fusarium wilt or eggplant
yellows are a fungal disease which attacks plant roots and spreads into the plant’s vascular system. Plant in
well-drained soil. Rotate crops. Remove and destroy infected plants; older plants may be harvested and then
uprooted and thrown away.
• Lower leaves yellow and die; stem is discolored with brown streaks when the stem is split lengthwise;
plants wilt and die. Verticillium wilt is caused by a soilborne fungus. Plant verticillium-resistant varieties.
Rotate crops and avoid planting in soil previously planted with pepper, potato, tomato, or cucumber family
members.

Growing eggplant would be ridiculously easy if not for eggplant flea beetles. ... Eggplant is among the few
vegetables that don't mind warm roots, so they grow well in roomy containers provided the plants are given
plenty of water.

Why are my plants so small and growing slowly? Eggplants are sensitive to the cold. Either a transplant has
been planted into cold soil, or a young plant has experienced cold weather, or a transplant that became root
bound before being planted may be stunted for a short while or for the full growing season.

STEP#3

after a few weeks it is even more attractive to look at because of its fruit and the budding of its
other flowers, its fruit is 3-4 inches long with a violet color. I also noticed the plant that it is
stronger than before because the plant stem of its eggplant is fat and it looks strong. its leaves
are also beautiful and attractive to the eye and as before I still water it and I still give it fertilizer
so that and it can still bear a lot of fruit on the other hand I carefully guarded it so that it is not
inhabited by wild insects that can consume the leaves and damage its fruits so I sprayed it with
insecticide to protect it somehow
Eggplant is usually grown as an annual and features an erect bushy stem that is sometimes
armed with spines. The leaves are large, ovate, and slightly lobed. The pendant violet flowers
are characteristically solitary and approximately 5 cm (2 inches) across.

six basic parts: roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. Draw a diagram of
your plants and label each part. Takes in water and nutrients. Attracts pollinating
insects.
The roots absorb water and minerals from the soil and anchor the plant in the ground.
The stem supports the plant above ground, and carries the water and minerals to the
leaves. The leaves collect energy from the Sun and make food for the plant, using an
amazing process called photosynthesis.

5
STEP#4

In that month I harvested the eggplant with a length of 8-9 inches because it's okay to eat or sell that eggplant
grew because for two weeks I took good care of it so that it would have a good result and make sure the fruit is
good and healthy there is never a day that I don't water it and I make sure it is watered well, you can also see in
the picture that the old flower has become a fruit so even if we pick something in the next few weeks I will
definitely still have the fruit to be picked to benefit from it I did it despite the fatigue and time I devoted to it.

How are eggplants marketed?

Marketing options for Kentucky-grown eggplant include wholesale markets, farmers markets,
community supported agriculture (CSA) programs, produce auctions, and roadside stands.
Wholesaling is also an option through local market channels such as supermarkets and
restaurants.

How can you tell if an eggplant is good?

Pick one that feels heavy for its size. Avoid eggplants that feel lightweight as they may be past their prime.
Look for a smooth, shiny eggplant. Dull skin indicates that the fruit is beyond good eating as it is turning
bitter

How long does it take for eggplant to produce fruit?

Eggplants are ready to harvest as soon as 70 days after sowing the seeds. Harvest
fruits with skin that is glossy and thin. Eggplants can be harvested when they are small,
though growing them longer allows for a larger harvest. Harvestable fruits should be
firm and inside seeds should not be visible once cut open
