1.7 Physical Outputs/ Deliverables

After the implementation of the urban gardening, hydroponics,

fresh green leafy vegetables have been harvested and new learnings on the technical know-
how and importance of hydroponics have been acquired by the TLE teachers of TNHS-
ANNEX.
2. Narrative report

Hydroponics is the cultivation of plants without using soil. Nutrient solutions are added
to water to give it a high concentration of essential nutrients. That water is then delivered to
the plants to replace the food they would have gotten from soil.

Nutrient solution to Hydroponic is just like fertilizers to soil. Essentially, a Hydroponic nutrient
solution is a liquid filled with all of the necessary nutrients so that plant roots can come into
contact for its growth.

Here are the steps in making Hydroponic system, decide what you want to grow, start your
seeds and choose a location. In making hydroponic you should consider marking and correct
spacing of the plants. Prepare the nutrient solution. Plant your Hydroponics seedlings in a
growing medium. Make sure to monitor your Hydroponics plants. Wait for your plants to grow.
Prune. Harvest your plants and Flush.

Different types of soil-less systems use different crop processes. Hydroponic systems use a
growing medium, like coco peat and perlite, and a nutrient solution. In these systems, nutrient-
rich water is delivered directly to the roots by soaking the medium. There are different types of
Hydroponic systems, one of the types is The Kratky Method which is the recommended method
for beginners and the most practical among others.

Recently hydroponic technique is becoming popular because this is clean and relatively easy
method and there is no chance of soil-borne disease, insect or pest infection to the crops
thereby reducing or eliminating use of pesticides and their resulting toxicity. Besides, plants
require less growing time as compared to crop grown in field and growth of plant is faster as
there is no mechanical hindrance to the roots and the entire nutrient are readily available for
plant.

THE YIELDS ON SALE

The proponent while selling the freshly harvested yields from hydroponics
The proponent was able to purchase as additional grow boxes that cost Php1,200.00
which could be used for the project expansion activities. Additionally, other materials such as
the nutrients solutions, pressurized sprayer and grow cups were availed with a total of
Php2,040.00.
Finally, the proponent was able to accumulate at least 200% return from the total
expenses produced for this project. Hence, the proponent is optimistic that this project is
indeed relevant and beneficial to the school community in general. That the stated objectives
were carefully attained and completed.
