The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council
The Southwest ISD Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is a unique and valuable opportunity for students in grades 10-12 to have their voices heard and make a meaningful impact on the future of their school district. This council allows students to work directly with Dr. Ball, the district's Superintendent, to provide input, share ideas, and engage in discussions about important decisions that shape the district’s policies, programs, and initiatives.
Dr. Ball is deeply committed to fostering student engagement, recognizing that students bring invaluable perspectives to the table. She believes that when students are involved in the decision-making process, it creates a stronger, more inclusive environment where the entire community—students, teachers, and administrators—can grow and thrive together. Every decision made by the district is centered on what is best for the students, making their voices critical in shaping the direction of Southwest ISD.
The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is designed to reflect the diversity of the student population at Southwest ISD. Students from every high school and various backgrounds are encouraged to apply. This ensures that a wide range of viewpoints are represented, helping the district address the needs of all students more effectively. By participating in this council, students have the chance to not only influence important decisions but also build valuable leadership skills, learn about district operations, and take an active role in shaping the future of education in their community.
Members of the advisory council will voice their perspective on key district initiatives, provide feedback on student-related issues, and even have opportunities to propose new ideas that could benefit their peers. This experience offers a unique chance to grow both personally and academically, preparing students to become leaders in their schools and beyond.
