Collaboration to promote new opportunities
A new collaboration between the University of Sydney and global medical products and services provider Baxter Healthcare aims to facilitate new multidisciplinary educational and research opportunities.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) takes a University-wide approach, and will encompass all divisions of Baxter Healthcare as a possible site for partnership – including opportunities across areas as diverse as design, marketing, business and information technology.
University of Sydney Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Philippa Pattison said the agreement aimed to facilitate collaboration.
"Activities are likely to include experiential learning projects in areas as diverse as the sciences, data visualisation and presentation, design, visual arts, architecture, communications, marketing, business and IT," Professor Pattison said.
"These will be augmented by involvement in a range of other activities including engagement with honours and higher degree by research students and field trips, guest lectures and shared volunteering activities."
Baxter Healthcare ANZ Director of Market Access and Healthcare Solutions Steven Flynn said strong collaborative relationships were key to the sharing of great ideas and driving innovation.
"By providing practical experiences and challenges through our significant local manufacturing and logistics presence to some of Australia’s brightest university students, we will be helping to develop the leaders of the future," Mr Flynn said.
