Ncuti Gatwa, one of our favorite Kens from the Barbie movie, brought his scene-stealing talents to the Vanity Fair Oscars 2024 party in a silver chestplate that may not quiiiiite fit in in Barbie Land, with its pastel colors and cowboy 'fits, but definitely looked pitch-perfect on the red carpet.

The former Sex Education and current Doctor Who star attended the legendary after party wearing a bold silver chestplate with a high mock neckline and molded chest details, pairing it with classic black tuxedo pants and a bare midriff. 10/10 vibes for the legendary after-party to be sure, and a look we're gonna be thinking about for a long, long time.

Gatwa's sleek, futuristic look was a big pivot from his actual Oscars 2024 red carpet look, where he rocked a simple tux from Givenchy, sans tie. For both, he was dressed by his long-time stylist Felicity Kay.

He later joined costars Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Scott Evans onstage for the immediately iconic performance of “I'm Just Ken.” The Kens, surrounded by dancers, all wore black tuxedos but added pink bowties to offset Gosling's sparkly pink suit, which likely referenced the “Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend” scene from Marilyn Monroe's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

Chestplates have become more and more prevalent on the red carpet, with fashion-forward stars like Zendaya and Lupita Nyong'o wearing them to events. Zendaya has actually worn a few different versions in the past, including a pink Tom Ford look at the 2020 Critics' Choice Awards and a gold and gray Loewe dress in 2021.

In late 2022, Sydney Sweeney also wore a custom LaQuan Smith gown with a liquid silver breastplate, complete with metal nipples. However, we don't typically see male stars in them, but if Gatwa's Vanity Fair look is any indication, it's high time to start!
